We wish to thank Åse for sharing the research done by genealogist Kaare Hasselberge, with us. |
Joen Olesen was born about 1650 in Ljønes in Skjerstad, Nordland County, Norway, the only known child of parents Ole Mikkelsen and Marit Olsdatter. He began farming on his own about 1682 on the Ytter (Outer) Vikan farm called Jogården, located on the Outer Innstranda in Bodin. (Innstranda is a term for areas between Alstad and Hopen, and cluster along the Salten Fjord, east of the center of Bodø.) In 1684, Jon obtained the neighboring farm Anegården. The combined two farms were once known as Andersgården and belonged to his not yet second wife Marit’s grandparents, Anna and Hans Pedersen. Anna had sold or given Jogården to Joen in 1682. Jon married an unnamed woman and they had one daughter Lisbet born about 1693 in Vikan. It is assumed that this wife died and in about 1697 he married Marit Lydersdatter and they had 5 additional children. His eldest daughter Lisbet married a man named Nils, who, when Jon’s debts mounted, took over the running of the farm from about 1709 to 1718. Apparently Jon took over the running of his farm once the debt was cleared and Nils and Lisbet moved on. Jon died sometime after 1728 leaving the farm to his widow Marit. |

When her husband died, she inherited the farm. At some point she gave some of the farm to her sons. It is not clear if all of them got a piece of it or just one. She ran her portion of the farm until her death, which occurred sometime between 1730 and 1734. |

It is believed Ole Mikkelsen lived his entire life at Ljønes and died there in about 1664. Marit Olsdatter died at age 74 in Ljønes and was buried there on May 3, 1690. Her burial/death record can be found in The National Archives of Norway Digital Archives Skjerstad Parish Register. (Mouse over image right and click to enlarge in a new window or tab.) |

Lyder Hansen’s ancestry is undocumented, except for the information found in the Bodin Bygdebok 11:4 on page 690. His surname has also been spelled Hansson. It is believed he was born about 1647 in Wick, Innstranda, Bodin in Nordland County, Norway, the only known child of Hans Pedersen of Vikan and his wife Anna, whose surname is unknown. His widowed mother split her farm Andersgården in Outer Vikan, Bodin into two parcels and by 1673, Lyder was farming one of them. Shortly after that he moved to the Holand farm in Skjerstad, an area which is now Bodø, where it is believed he married Malene Helgesdatter. Malene was born on the Holand farm, the daughter of Helge Jonsen and Lisbet Stenfinsdatter. Lyder and Malene had ancestor Marit on the Holand farm in 1675, but by 1682, they were in the Inner-Vikan. By 1691, they had moved to Hopen, but returned to Inner-Vikan in 1701. It is not known exactly when Lyder Hansen died, some say it was at at age 54 in 1701, other researchers simply say he was dead by 1711. Both Malene Helgesdatter’s birth and death dates are unknown. Unfortunately, records for this area and time period, are not accessible, if they exist at all. |

Mikkel Olsen’s name comes from other researchers. Documentation was not found to confirm this information. It is said that Mikkel Olsen lived in Ljønes in Skjerstad, Nordland County, Norway from 1609 to 1624. His birth, death, parents and spouse are not known. |

Hans Pedersen’s ancestry comes from information found in the Bodin Bygdebok bd.II: 4 on page 678. He was born about 1623, to Peder Hansen and his first wife Anne, whose surname is unknown. Hans married Anna, surname and parents unknown, who was born about 1625 and they had at least one child, ancestor Lyder. Hans was a farmer on the Outer-Vikan farm Andersgården in Bodin in Nordland County, Norway, from about 1647 to his death at age 52 in about 1675. It is believed he died in this year because this is when the farm passed to his widow. She must have kept the farm going as he did for a few years, as it was still considered one farm in 1677. The next mention of the farm was in 1682, when it was listed as two separate farms, Anegården and Jogården. So sometime within those five years, Anne divided her farm into two parcels. She allowed her son, ancestor Lyder, who was already working the farm, to run one of the parcels. His parcel was then inherited by his daughter and her husband, ancestors Marit Lydersdatter and Joen Olesen, who combined the two parcels back into one farm. |

Peder Hansen’s ancestry comes from research done by several others. This researcher has not found any documentation for him or either of his two wives. It is believed he lived on Godøynes, Tverlandet, Bodin, in Nordland County, Norway from 1619 to 1662. His first wife Anne is said to be the mother of ancestor Hans, their only known child. It is assumed that Anne died sometime after 1623 and Peder married Dorte, who probably was much younger than him. Peder died about 1662 and his second wife, Dorte, was dead by 1692. |

Jon, whose surname is unknown, is said to be from Houglannd, which may be a misspelling for Haugland, in Hordaland County, near Bergen. In 1610 Jon was living in Holand in Skjerstad, which is now Bodø in Nordland County, Norway. It is believed he died about 1617. He is said to be the father of ancestor Helge Jonsen. Unfortunately, that is all the other researchers know about him. No documentation can be found to support this information. |

Stenfin Hansen’s name and information comes from research done by several others. This researcher has not found any documentation for him or either of his two wives. Stenfin Hansen was probably born in Leivset in Outer Fauske in Nordland County, Norway. He was married twice; the first wife’s name is unknown. From 1609, it is said he lived in Løding, Tverlandet, Bodin until his death in about 1655. His second wife was ancestor Lisbet, whose surname is unknown. She was born about 1603, and was probably much younger than he was. Their only known child was ancestor Lisbet Stenfinsdatter. All that was said about Lisbet is that she died after 1665. |
