Marco Gulino was baptized as Marcus Philippo Gulino on February 5, 1636, in the St. Michele parish, in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Antonino Gulino and his wife Antonia Terranova. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) In 1655, on August 29th September 5th and 8th church banns were read for Marco to marry Geronima Scaturro. She was born on November 29, 1639, and baptized the next day also in the St. Michele parish, the daughter of Giovanni Scaturro and his wife Maria Giametta.  (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image middle right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Nineteen year-old Marco and 15 year-old Geronimo were married on September 26, 1655, at St. Michele’s church in Sciacca and raised a family there. Only four baptism records can be found for the children of Marcho and Geronima, whose name is spelled differently on these records - Jeronima, Honuphria, Hieronima or Hieroryma! These Latin spellings of her name all translate to Geronima. Their four documented children all were born in Sciacca and baptized at the St. Michele’s church, as follows — Antonino Gaetano being the first born son, was named after his paternal grandfather, born on November 3, 1656, and baptized the next day; ancestor Anna; Onofrio was born the morning of December 22, 1663, and baptized the next day as Honuphius Josephanus; and Vita Antonina, who was baptized on March 4, 1665. Marriage records for all four children have been found as follows. Marco and Geronimo’s eldest son Antonino and his sister Vita married into the Bono family on the same day, December 12, 1683, but these records do not list parent names on them. Onofrio married Vincenza Plaia on May 6, 1692, but his parents are listed as the deceased Marci and Marie Gulino. Did Geronima start calling herself Maria? It may be so, as a Sciacca death and burial record dated November 13, 1690, has been found for Maria wife of deceased Marci Gulino, 60 years old. Geronima would have actually been 50 years old at this time, but burial record ages are usually bad estimates. (Mouse over and click on the Latin burial record image lower right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) This record states that she was buried in the Convent of St. Maria de Monte Carmelo cemetery. It is documented that Geronima and Marco were both deceased when their daughter ancestor Anna was married on May 4, 1700, and it seems there wasn’t another Marco Gulino alive at this time, so this probably is ancestor Geronima. If so, it documents that Marco was already deceased. Regrettably, a burial record could not be found for him, but burial records are missing between 1674 to 1690.

Unfortunately, nothing else is known about them at this time.

Antonino Gulino was one of two documented sons of Marco Gulino and his wife, whose name may be Leonarda. A baptism record could not be found for Antonino, but he married in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. In 1635, on January 21st, 28th and February 1st church banns were read for Antonino to marry Antonia Terranova. She was baptized at St Michele’s church in Sciacca, on November 1, 1615, the daughter of Vito Terranova and his wife Vita, whose surname is unknown. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Antonino and 19 year-old Antonia were married at the St Michele’s church in Sciacca on February 4, 1635. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marrage image upper left to enlarge in a new window/tab.) A few days after their marriage, on February 11th, Antonino’s brother Natale was married, at the same church. Antonino and Antonia’s only known child was ancestor Marco. Baptisms for other children have not been found in the three churches that have records available for research. It could be they lived in another town and they baptized their first born child in her hometown.

Antonina died and was buried on September 19, 1653, in the St Maria di Monte Camelo cemetery. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image lower right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Her St. Vito burial record lists her as Antonia wife of Antonini Gulino age 30, but she was actually 37 years old she she died. Four months later, there is a marriage for an Antonino Gulino, that may be ancestor Antonino.

On January 25th and February 1st and 2nd of 1654, church banns were read for Antonino Gulino son of the deceased Marci and Leonarda to marry Antoinina Tripuli. They married the next day on February 3rd. This record does not state that Antonino was a widow, but it may be him.

Antonino died and was buried on May 24, 1665, in the St. Maria di Monte Carmelio cemetery. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record image lower left to enlarge in a new window or tab.)His St. Vito burial record states he was about 45 years old, which puts his birth to 1608, but burial records ages are not reliable.. Unfortunately, at this time, this is all that is known about them.

Giovanni Scaturro was the son of Nunzio Scaturro and his wife Geronima, whose surname is unknown. It is not known where or when Giovanni was born as a Sciacca baptism record could not be found for him. What is documented is that he lived and raised a family in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy.

On August 2, 1638, Giovanni entered into a Sciacca notarial marriage contract to marry Maria Giametta. She was baptized in the St Michele parish as Grazia Maria on June 27, 1614, the daughter of Leonardo Giametta and his wife Caterina, whose surname is unknown. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) In September and October of 1638, church banns were read for Giovanni to marry 24 year-old Maria. They married on November 7, 1638, at the St. Michele church in Sciacca. (Mouse over and click on their Larin church marriage record image left to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Their only known child was ancestor Geronima, who was named after her paternal grandmother.

The only thing known about Giovanni's parents, Nunzio and Geronima, is that they both were deceased when their son Giovanni was married in 1638. It is also not known when Giovanni and Maria died, but she was deceased and he was alive when their daughter ancestor Geronima was married on September 26, 1655. Unfortunately, at this time, nothing else is known about them.

Marco Gulino and his wife, who may be named Leonarda, ancestries are unknown. Leonarda’s name comes from a possible second marriage document for ancestor Antonino, but this is not a certainty.

It is documented through the marriage record mentioned above in their son ancestor Antonino’s bio that Marco had another son name Natale, who married Antonia Vinesia on February 11, 1635, at the St. Michele church in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. Sciacca baptism records for children of Marco and Leonarda Gulino have not been found, so it is assumed they lived elsewhere.

It is not known when or where Marco or his wife died, but it is documented that he was deceased when his sons, ancestor Antonino and his brother Natale was married in February of 1635. Unfortunately, at this time, nothing else is known about them.

Vito Terranova and his wife Vita’s ancestries are unknown, but they lived and raised a family in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. What is documented is the five children born and baptized in the St. Michele parish to parents Vito and Vita Terranova as follows — Antonino on December 19, 1608; Filippo on August 14, 1612; Leonardo Martino on November 9, 1614, who apparently died before his fourth birthday; ancestor Antonina; and another Leonardo on January 1, 1618.

It is not known when Vito and Vita died. It is documented that he was deceased when their daughter ancestor Antonina was married on February 4, 1635, but Vita was still alive when her son Filippo married on April 13, 1636. For now this is all that is known about them.

Leonardo Giametta and his wife Caterina’s ancestries are unknown, but they lived and raised a family in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. What is documented is the six children born and baptized in the St. Michele parish to parents Leonardo and Caterina Giametta as follows — Filippo on May 12, 1596; Giovanni Calogero on June 19, 1597; Antonina Dorothea on February 6, 1601; Calogero Michele on February 17, 1607; Giovanni Vincenzo on September 18, 1610; and lastly ancestor Maria. On these records Leonardo is sometimes called Nardo.

It is not known when Leonardo and Caterina died, but they both were deceased by the time their daughter ancestor Maria was married on November 7, 1638. For now this is all that is known about them.
