Pietro Galluzzo was born and baptized as Petrus Antonius, after his maternal grandfather, on November 3, 1669, in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Angela Cassano and her husband Calogero Galluzzo. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge in a new window/tab.)
In 1690, on October 15th, 22nd, and 28th, church banns were read for Pietro to marry Giacoma Ingrao. She was born on the evening of August 19, 1673, and baptized as Anna Jacoba the next day in the St. Vito parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Margarita Spataro and her husband Giuseppe Ingrao alais Caliacucuzza. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record middle right to enlarge in a new window/tab.) She is also the older sister of Angela Ingrao, who was the first wife of ancestor Stefano Cusumano. Twenty-one year old Petrum married 17 year-old Jacobam on November 5, 1690, in the St. Michele church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record upper left to enlarge in a new window/tab.)
Eight Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Petro and Jacoba Galluzzo. The first and last children were baptized in the mother church parish and the others in the St. Michele parish as follows — ancestor Calogero was named after his paternal grandfather; Michele was born and baptized as Michael Joseph Benedictis on the evening of March 22, 1696, and married Vincenzia La Sala on January 19, 1722; Pietro was born on June 28, 1700, and baptized as Petrus Ignazius the next day; Ignazia Angela, given a middle name after her paternal grandmother, was born on March 26, 1703, and baptized the next day; Simon Joseph, given a middle name after his maternal grandfather, was born and baptized on October 28, 1706, and in 1731, married Ignazia Santangelo the daughter of ancestors Angelo and Epifania; ; Joseph Salvator was born on the morning of February 17, 1711, and baptized the next day, but probably died young; another Joseph Salvator was born and baptized on July 28, 1712; and Margarita Angela Madalena, who was named after her maternal grandmother, was born on August 29, 1716, and baptized the next day.
It is documented that both Pietro and Giacoma were alive on April 2, 1731, when their son Simon was married. Pietro died at home and was buried on February 10, 1738, in the Convent of Santa Maria di Monte Carmelo cemetery. (Mouse over and click on his burial record lower left to enlarge in a new window/tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as Petrius Galluzzo about 76 years old, but he was actually 68 when he died. Giacoma outlived her husband for almost 17 years and did not remarry. On her son Calogero’s 1747 Sciacca Rivelo (tax record) she is listed as a widow (see the image in his bio). Giacoma died at home on January 30, 1755, and was buried the next day in the same cemetery as her husband. (Mouse over and click on her burial record lower right to enlarge in a new window/tab.) Her mother church burial record lists her as Jacoba wife of the deceased Petri Galluzzo 100 years old, but she was only 81 when she died. As usual burial record ages are just estimates and are often way off. For now, this is all that is known about them.

Calogero Galluzzo was born on October 6, 1644, and baptized as Dominicus Calogero the next day in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Angela Milici and her husband Vincenzo Galluzzo. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge in a new window/tab.)
On January 24th and 31st and February 2nd of 1666, church banns were read for Calogero to marry Angela Cassano. She was the daughter of Pietro Cassano and his wife Sebastiana, whose surname is unknown. A Sciacca baptism record could not be found for her and no Sciacca records exist for her parents, so it is likely that they can from another town. Nineteen days after the last banns were read, 21 year-old Calogero and Angela were married on February 21, 1666, in the St. Vito church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record left to enlarge in a new window/tab.)
Six Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Calogero and Angela Galluzzo. The first five in the St. Michele parish and the last child in the mother church parish as follows — Vincenzio, given a middle name after his paternal grandfather, was born on December 17, 1666, baptized as Joseph Honopho Vincenzi the next day and married Caterina Modica on April 30, 1685; ancestor Pietro was named after his maternal grandfather; Angela Leonarda was born on the morning of April 11, 1674, baptized that same day, and married Antonino Ingrao on November 5, 1690, the same day as her brother ancestor Pietro married Antonino’s sister ancestor Giacoma (see above); Giuseppe was born on the morning of January 8, 1677, baptized as Joseph Antonius that same day and married twice in Sciacca, once in1699 and then in 1731; Anna Maria was born on the morning of September 17, 1681, and baptized that same day; and Rosalia Paula, who was born on January 25, 1685, and baptized the next day.
It is documented that both Calogero and Angela were alive on March 1, 1699, when their son Giuseppe married Margarita Medico, but deceased on June 4, 1731, when he married the widow Caterina Rizzuto. Calogero died at home and was buried on April 10, 1708, in the mother church cemetery. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record lower right to enlarge in a new window/tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as Calog’o Galluzzo about 64 years old, which is close to his actual age of 63. A burial record for Angela has not been found, so she may have remarried or moved back to where her parents lived. For now, this is all that is known about them.

Giuseppe Ingrao was born on April 27, 1636, and baptized as Joseph Bartholus the next day in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Margarita Carratello and her husband Andrea Ingrao. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge in a new window/tab.)
On January 10, 1658, on the St. Michele church, 21 year-old Joseph married Angelicam Chiofalo and they had three children, the first listed with the alias of Caliacucuzza — Rosalia Margarita, given a middle after her paternal grandmother, was born on the evening of July 14, 1660, and baptized the next day; Giacomo, given a middle after his paternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Jacobo Andreas on the evening of January 29, 1663; and Filippa, who was named after her maternal grandmother, was born on the evening of October 13, 1665 and baptized as Philippa Angela the next day. Less than 3 years later, Angelica died and was buried on April 10, 1668, leaving him with three young children.
Not even 2 weeks later on April 22nd, 29th and May 1st of 1668, marriage banns were read for the widowed Joseph to marry Margarita Spataro. She was born on April 14, 1642, and baptized as Margarita Caterina the next day in the St. Michele parish, the daughter of Giuseppe Spataro and his wife Giacoma, whose surname is unknown. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record middle right to enlarge in a new window/tab.) The now 32 year-old Giuseppe and 26 year-old Margarita were married at the St. Vito church on May 6, 1668. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record upper left to enlarge in a new window/tab.)
Seven St. Vito baptism records have been found for the children of Joseph and Margarita Ingrao as follows — Antonino was born and baptized as Antonius Joseph Joachim on the evening of March 20, 1669, and married Angela Galluzzo, on November 5, 1690, the same day as his sister ancestor Giacoma married Angela’s brother ancestor Pietro (see above); Giovanni was born on June 23, 1671, baptized as Joannes Jacobus Calogenus the next day, and on February 25, 1691, married Peregrina Cusumano, the daughter of ancestors Natale and Consula Cusumano; ancestor Giacoma was named after her maternal grandmother; Angela was born and baptized as Catherina Angela Vincentia on the evening of October 21, 1675, and in 1691, married as his first wife, ancestor Stefano Cusumano, the brother of Peregrina mentioned above; Sebastiana Catherina was born and baptized on the evening of January 20, 1678; Anna Maria was born and baptized on the evening of December 10, 1680; and Michele, who was born and baptized as Michael Calogius on the evening of November 17, 1683.
It is documented that both Giuseppe and Margarita (listed with the alias Caliacucuzza) were alive when their daughter Angela was married on November 11, 1691. Giuseppe died and was buried in the St. Margarita church cemetery on February 9, 1695. (Mouse over and click on his burial record lower right to enlarge in a new window/tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as Joseph Ingras alias Caliacucuzza about 60 years old, but he was only 58 when he died. Margarita lived almost 12 more years and did not remarry. She died and was buried on January 5, 1707, in the St. Maria de Monte Carmelo convent cemetery. (Mouse over and click on her burial record lower right to enlarge in a new window/tab.) Her mother church burial record lists her as Marga wife of deceased Joseph Ingrao about 71 years old, but she was only 64 when she died. At this time, this is all that is known about them.

Vincenzo Galluzzo’s ancestry is unknown, but he married in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. On January 25, 1642, Sciacca notary Carlo Musca filed a notarial marriage contract for Vincenzo Galluzo and Agata Milici, whose was actually a widow named Angela Milici. (Mouse over and click on their marriage contract entry upper right to enlarge in a new window/tab.) The transcriber probably read the name wrong.
Angela was baptized as Angila on October 17, 1620, in the Sciacca St. Vito parish, the daughter of Margarita Rizzuto and her husband Giuseppe Milici. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record left to enlarge in a new window/tab.) When she was seventeen years old, Angela married Giuliani Caudarera on February 7, 1638, in the St. Vito church. They had one child together, Pietro, who was born and baptized as Petri Joseph on February 22, 1641, in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca. Sometime within the next year, Giuliani died and Angela was left with an infant child.
In 1642, on February 2nd, 9th and 16th church banns were read for Vincenzo to marry Angela, the relict of the deceased Giuliani la Caudarera. Vincenzo and the now 21 year-old Angela were married on the last day the banns were read, February 16, 1642, at the Sciacca St. Michele church, which today is called St. Michael the Archangel church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record right to enlarge in a new window/tab.) Unfortunately, only the baptism record for ancestor Calogero has been found in the Sciacca baptism records. It could be Vincenzo was from out of town and they moved to where he was from.
It is not known when Vincenzo and Angela died, but it is documented that they were alive when their son ancestor Calogero was married on February 21, 1666. Their burial records could not be found in the Sciacca records, which supports the theory that they did not live in Sciacca. For now, this is all that is known about them. |

Giuseppe Spataro and his wife Giacoma’s ancestries are unknown, but they lived and raised a family in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. A Sciacca marriage contract or church marriage record has not been found for them. What has been found are nine Sciacca baptism records for the children of Joseph and Jacoba Spataro, the first seven in the St. Michele parish records and the last two in the St. Vito parish records. Their children are as follows — Antonino Benedicto was born on the night of October 29, 1633, and was baptized the next day; Dominica Santa was born and baptized on July 4, 1639; ancestor Margarita; Gaspare was born and baptized as Gasparius Paulus on December 13, 1643; Melchior Calogerius was born on April 13, 1646, baptized the next day and married Rosalia Messina in 1671; Baldassar Calogerus was born on April 28, 1649, and baptized the next day; Accursia Caterina was born and baptized on November 24, 1650; Paschalia Antonina was born and baptized on the morning of April 13, 1653; and Vincenzo, who was born and baptized as Vincenzius Antonino Paulo on July 20, 1654, and married Anna Guardino on August 29, 1683.
It is documented that Giuseppe was deceased and Giacoma was alive on May 6, 1668, when their daughter ancestor Margarita was married. Giuseppe died at home and was buried in the St. Maria de Monte Carmelo cemetery on December 12, 1659. (Mouse over and click on his burial record right to enlarge in a new window/tab.) His St. Vito burial record lists him as Joseph Spataro alias Cortilla about 50 years old, which would put his birth to about 1609. It should be remembered that burial ages are usually just estimates. This is the only time that alias is connected to his name. It is also documented that Giacoma was deceased on June 21, 1671, when her son Melchior was married. Unfortunately, a burial record in her married surname could not be found. However there is a St. Vito burial record for a 75 year old Jacoba Catalano, that could be her. Because there is no Sciacca marriage record between a Catalano and a Jacoba, this very well may be her maiden name, but without another document to support this, it is just a possibility. For now, this is all that’s known about them.

Giuseppe Milici's ancestry is uncertain, but he married and raised a family in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. He was probably born about 1600 and is most likely the son of Vincenzo Milici and his first wife, whose name is unknown.
In 1619 on December 31st and January 1st and 5th of the next year, church banns were read for Giuseppe Melica to marry Margarita Rizzuto. She was the daughter of Antonino Rizzuto and his unnamed wife, but a Sciacca baptism record could not be found for her. Giuseppe and Margarita were married on January 7, 1620, at the St. Vito church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record upper right to enlarge in a new window/tab.) Six months later on July 4, 1620, a notarial marriage contract was filed by Sciacca notary Bartolomeo Raja, probably because she was now noticeably pregnant. (Mouse over and click on their marriage contract entry upper left to enlarge in a new window/tab.)
Only four Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Joseph and Margarita Milici, the first two in the St. Vito records and the last two in the St. Michele records. Their children are as follows — ancestor Angela; Matthio was born on February 23, 1623, and baptized the next day; Vincenza was born on April 16, 1625, and baptized the next day, but died on July 13, 1626, at 14 months old; and another Vincenza was born on October 6, 1627, and baptized as Vic’a the next day.
A little over a year later Margarita died at home and was buried on December 11, 1628, in the Convent of St. Dominici cemetery. (Mouse over and click on her Latin church burial record middle right to enlarge in a new window/tab.) Her St. Vito burial record lists her as Margarita wife of Joseph Milie 20 years old, but she was probably a bit older than that. Giuseppe was left with at least three young children, the eldest being about 8 years old, so it is most likely he remarried.
On January 15, 1629, Sciacca notary Antonino Amico filed a notarial marriage contract between Giuseppe Milici and Francesca Amfossi. Six days later on January 21st, 28th and February 2nd church banns were read for Joseph son of Vincenius Milici and Franc’a daughter of Angeli Anfusi to marry. Two days later, on February 4, 1629, they married at the Sciacca St. Michele church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record lower left to enlarge in a new window/tab.) Although their marriage record doesn’t say that Giuseppe was a widower, the dates imply that he was ancestor Giuseppe. Another interesting fact is that there are no other baptism records for a Giuseppe Milici with any father in the Sciacca records. This also supports the two marriages are for ancestor Giuseppe.
Five Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Joseph and Francisca Milichi, the second and fifth children were baptized in the St. Michele parish and the other three in the St. Vito parish. Their children are as follows — Enferna Catherina was born on the evening of October 25, 1629, and baptized the next day; Antonino Calogero was born on October 9, 1631, and baptized the next day; Vincenzio Didaco, named after his paternal grandfather, was born on the evening of July 11, 1634, and baptized the next day; Calogero was born on August 2, 1635, and baptized as Calogerius Stephanius the next day; and Angelo, who was named after his maternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Angelius Leonardus on August 14, 1637.
It is documented that Giuseppe was deceased on February 16, 1642, the date of their daughter, ancestor Angela’s first marriage. Giuseppe wrote his will on September 15, 1637, just a month after his last child was born, and it was recorded by Sciacca notary Antonino Amico. Within a week, Giuseppe died and was buried in the St. Maria Carmeli cemetery on September 23, 1637. (Mouse over and click on his Latin church burial record lower right to enlarge in a new window/tab.) His St. Vito burial record lists him as Joseph Melici 36 years old, but he probably was a bit older than that. A year and 3 days later, his wife Francesca is contracted to marry Giuseppe Piscopo. At this time, this is all that is known about them.
