Antonino Guardino was the son of Vincenzo Guardino and his unnamed wife. It is not known when and where he was born, but he lived and raised a family in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. A Sciacca baptism record could not be found for Antonino.

On January 1, 1628, Antonino entered into a Sciacca notarial marriage contract to marry Giovanna Caradonna. She was baptized on December 27, 1608, at the Sciacca mother church, the daughter of Elizabetta Longo and her first husband Vincenzo Caradonna. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Four months later, church banns were read on May 21st, 28th and the beginning of June for them to marry. Antonino and 19 year-old Giovanna married at the Sciacca mother church on June 4, 1628. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record image left to enlarge in a new window or tab.) They were the parents of two ancestors, Domenico and Didaci.

Eleven mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Antonino and Joanna Guardino as follows — Vincenzo was born on November 18, 1628, only five months after his parents married, and baptized the next day as Vincenzius Joseph, after both of his grandfathers; Calogero was born and baptized as Calogerius Vincenius on January 7, 1630; Giacomina was born and baptized as Jacoba Calogera on December 5, 1631; Nicolaus was born on October 8, 1633, and baptized the next day; Vincenza Leonarda was born and baptized on February 22, 1636; ancestor Dominico; Leonardo was born and baptized as Leonardus Vincenziys on April 14, 1642; Christopher was born on the evening of September 12, 1644, and baptized the next day as Cristofanus Michael; Giuseppe was born and baptized as Joseph Felix Vito on June 2, 1646; ancestor Didaci; and Comos Damiancus was born on July 28, 1655, and baptized the next day.

Giovanna died and was buried on December 8, 1672. Her mother church death and burial record lists her as Joanna wife of Antonino Guardino, about 55 years old, but she was actually 63 years old. (Mouse over and click on her Latin  church burial record image lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) It is not known when Antonino died, but he was alive on June 7, 1676, when his son ancestor Didaci was first married. Nothing is known about Antonino’s father Vincenzo, except that he was alive when Antonino was married in 1628. Unfortunately, at this time, this is all we know about them.

Vincenzo Caradonna was born and baptized as Laurenzo Vincenzo on August 10, 1571, at the mother church in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Salvatore Caradonna and his wife Catinella, whose surname is unknown. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) On October 25, 1599, 28 year-old Vincenzo married Elisabetta Longo at the Sciacca mother church and they had three children together (see her bio for more on them).

It is not known when Vincenzo died, but he was alive when his daughter ancestor Giovanna was baptized on December 27, 1608, but deceased on December 30, 1611, when his wife entered into a marriage contract with another man. A Sciacca burial record has not been found for him within this 3 year period. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about him.

Elisabetta Longo is the only known child of Giovanna or Giocoma (surname unknown) and Santino or Santoro Longo. A Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy baptism record has not yet been found for her. Her parent’s names come from Elisabetta’s first marriage document, which is difficult to read. Elisabetta was the mother of two ancestors, one born from each of her two husbands.

On October 25, 1599, Elisabetta married ancestor Vincenzo Caradonna at the mother church in Sciacca. (Mouse over and click on their church marriage record image right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Three Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Vincenzo and Betta Caradonna as follows — Salvatore Paulo, named after his paternal grandfather, was probably their first son, and was baptized on September 11, 1602; Diodato on April 5, 1606; and ancestor Giovanna. Vincenzo died and Elisabetta was left with young children.

Elisabetta entered into a notarial marriage contract with ancestor Filippo Blundo on December 30, 1611. They married at the Sciacca mother church just over a month later on February 6, 1612. Only two mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Philippo and Betta Blundo as follows — ancestor Francesca; and a daughter named Grazia who was baptized at the mother church in Sciacca on June 11, 1618, and is also an ancestor.

The only thing known about Elisabetta’s parents is that they were alive when she first married in 1599. Sciacca burial records have not been found for them. It is also not known when Elisabetta died, but it was after May 6, 1634, the date her daughter ancestor Francesca was married. There is however a Sciacca mother church death record dated March 28, 1647, for a 70 year-old Elisabetta Caradonna, who was buried in the mother church cemetery, that may be for her, but it gives no other identifying information. (Mouse over and click on this brief Latin burial record image left to enlarge in a new window or tab.)  If this is ancestor Elisabetta, it brings her birth to about 1577, which fits with her first marriage date. This could be for ancestor Elisabetta Longo, but why would she be buried with her first husband’s surname? It could be her second husband Filippo died before her and she reverted back to her first husband’s surname. Unfortunately, this will remain a mystery until more records can be found, as nothing else is known about her.

Filippo Blundo was born in Licata, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy to unknown parents. On December 30, 1611, he entered into a notarial marriage contract with the widowed Elisabetta Caradonna whose maiden name was Longo. (Mouse over and click on their notarial marriage contract entry left to enlarge in a new window or tab.) On February 6, 1612, they married at the mother church in Sciacca in Agrigento. (Mouse over and click on their Latin marriage record image right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) In both of these documents, there is no mention of his parents and his surname is spelled Blundo. Filippo and Elisabetta had at least two children together, see her bio for more about them.

It is not known when Filippo died, but he was alive when their daughter, ancestor Francesca, was married on May 6, 1634. Unfortunately nothing else is known about him.

Salvatore Caradonna and his wife Catinella’s ancestries are unknown, but they lived and raised a family in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. A Sciacca marriage record could not be found for them. Six mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Salvatore Caradonna. On some records they include the mother’s name and she is called either Catinella or Caterina. On these early baptism records only baptism dates are listed, but it can be assumed that the child was born no more than a few days before these dates. The six records found are as follows — Petro on February 23, 1565; Vinsella on February 18, 1567; Leonardo on January 7, 1568; Chiarullo on March 17, 1569; ancestor Vincenzo; and Norella on December 20, 1573.

It is not known when Salvatore and Catinella died, but they were still alive when their son ancestor Vincenzo was married on October 25, 1599. For now, nothing else is known about them.
