Vincenzo Mandracchia was born and baptized as Vincenzo Onafrio Cosmos on May 15, 1693, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Leonarda Marino and her husband Mario Mandracchia.  (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge in a new window or tab.)

On December 31st, January 12th and 19th marriage banns were read for Vincenzo to marry Anna Sutera. She was born on April 5, 1702, and baptized the next day as Anna Catarina Philippa, also in the mother church parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Rosa Avona and her husband Ignazio Sutera.  (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image lower right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Twenty-seven year-old Vincenzo and 18 year-old Anna were married at the mother church in Sciacca on January 20, 1721. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage image left to enlarge in a new window/tab.)

Nine Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Vincenzio and Anna Mandracchia as follows — ancestor Mario was named after his paternal grandfather; Leonarda Ignazia was born on the morning of January 15, 1723, and baptized that same day; Ignazio, named after his maternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Ignatius Blasius on the evening of October 19, 1724; Accursio was born and baptized as Accursius Joannius Onufrius on the evening of January 11, 1727; Giuseppe was born on the morning of August 20, 1728, and baptized as Joseph Vincencius later that same day; Alberto was baptized as Albertius Dominicius on October 12, 1731; Giovanni was born and baptized as Joannes Paulus on the evening of September 19, 1734; Rosa was born on the evening of December 4, 1736, and baptized as Rosa Francisca Josepha the next day, but may have died young; and Rosalia Francisca, who was born and baptized on the evening of September 4, 1741. They may have had more children, but for now, these are the ones found.

It is also not known when Vincenzo and Anna died, but he was deceased and she was alive at the time of their son Mario’s July 29, 1753, marriage. Unfortunately, at this time, nothing else is known about Vincenzo and Ann.

Mario Mandracchia was born and baptized as Marius Leonardus Paulus on the morning of January 12, 1667, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Francisca Lombardo and her husband Vincenzo Mandracchia. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge in a new window or tab.)

On July 6th, 13th and 20th, church banns were read for Mario to marry the widow Leonarda Marino. She was born and baptized as Antonina Leonarda Rosalia, on November 7, 1667, in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Domenica Riportella and her husband Pietro Marino. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image lower right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Seventeen year-old Leonarda married Joseph Giordano (aka Giuseppe) on May 6, 1685, at the Sciacca mother church. They had at least one child, a daughter, Caterina Vincenza, who was born and baptized on February 24, 1686, in the Sciacca mother church parish. Giuseppe died, but burial records for the time period in which he probably died are not available for research. Six and a half years after her daughter was born, Leonarda remarried.

On August 23, 1692, 25 year-old Mario and 24 year-old Leonarda were married at the mother church in Sciacca. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage image left to enlarge in a new window/tab.) On their marriage document, she is listed as Leonarda Marino alias Citola. This alias is not seen on any of her other documents.

Six Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Mario and Leonarda Mandracchia, the first two in the mother church parish and the last four in the St. Michele parish. On some of them, Mario is listed as Master. There six children are as follows — ancestor Vincenzo, who was named after his paternal grandfather; Francisca Anna Dorothea, named after her paternal grandmother, was born and baptized on the evening of January 16, 1695; Dominica was born and baptized as Dominica Calogera Philippa, after her maternal grandmother, on the evening of November 13, 1696, the first in the St. Michele parish; Pietro was born on the morning of March 11, 1698, and baptized as Petrus Antonius Joseph, after his maternal grandfather, that same day; Calogero was born on August 5, 1699, and baptized as Calogerus Onofrius the next day; and Antonino, who was born and baptized as Antonius Nicolaus Joseph on the evening of July 27, 1702.

It is not known when Mario and Leonarda died, but he was deceased and she was alive when their son ancestor Vincenzo was married on January 20, 1721. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about them.

~<^>~

Ignazio Sutera was born and baptized as Ignazius Philippus Honuphrius on April 11, 1671, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Anna Interrante and her husband Dominico Sutera. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) On his daughter, ancestor Anna’s marriage record he is listed as Ignazio alias Crapa.

On January 4th, 6th, and 11th of 1693, church banns were read for Ignazio to marry Rosa Avona. She was born and baptized as Petra Rosalea Ignazia on February 5, 1675, also in the mother church parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Antonino Avona and his wife Leonarda Chiarello. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image lower right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Twenty-one year old Ignazio and almost 18 year-old Rosa were married at the Sciacca mother church, The Basilica of Maria Santissima del Soccorso, on January 29, 1693. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage image left to enlarge in a new window/tab.)

Only five mother church baptism records were found for the children of Ignazio and Rosa Sutera as follows — Dominico, named after his paternal grandfather, was born on the morning of May 30, 1694, and baptized as Dominicus Ignazius Vitus that same day; Antonino, named after his maternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Antonius Dominicus Franciscus on the evening of November 8, 1695; Calogero was born and baptized as Calogerus Antoninus on the evening of May 27, 1699; ancestor Anna; and Anna Maria Margarita, who was born and baptized on the evening of February 26, 1705, but died just over a year-old on April 12, 1706.

Sadly Ignazio died and was buried in the Convent of St. Dominico cemetery on April 6, 1705, just over a month after their last child was born. His mother church burial record lists him as Ignazius Sutera about 35 years old, but he was only 5 days short of his 34th birthday when he died. (Mouse over and click on his church burial record image lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Rosa probably married again as she was left with several young children. Without the surname of her second husband, it is impossible to find her burial record, but it is documented that she was alive when their daughter ancestor Anna was married on January 20, 1721.

For now, this is all that is known about them.

Vincenzo Mandracchia was born on October 26, 1638, and baptized the next day as Vincenzius Joseph, in the St. Michel parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Pietra Gulotta and her husband Francisco Mandracchia. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image right to enlarge in a new window or tab.)

On December 26, 1665, Sciacca notary Onofrio Sole filed a notarial marriage contract for 27 year-old Vincenzo to marry Francisca Lombardo. At the same time, on December 25th, 26th and 27th, church marriage banns were read for Vincenzo and Francisca to marry. They were married two weeks later on January 10, 1666, in the mother church in Sciacca. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage image left to enlarge in a new window/tab.) On their marriage document he is called Mastro, which means he was a highly respected person in his craft. It also states he was from Sciacca but lived in Sambuca, which is also in the providence of Agrigento. There is nothing on this document about Francisca, not even her parents names, only her name, squeezed into the text, so her ancestry is unknown.

Only two Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Vincenzo & Francisca Mandracchia, both in the mother church records — ancestor Mario in 1667 and a daughter Caterina, who was born on February 13, 1669, and baptized the next day as Chatarina Apolonia Anna. Because he was living in Sambuca at the time of the marriage, they may have lived there and had additional children. Unfortunately, the Sambuca records are difficult to read, some tattered, faded and some are without an index.

It is not known when Vincenzo and Francisca died, but he was deceased and she was alive when their son ancestor Mario was married on August 23, 1692. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about them.

Pietro Marino was born about 1643, probably in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Leonarda Mancuso and her husband Giuseppe Marino. A Sciacca baptism record could not be found for him, but he was named after his paternal grandfather, so he was probably their first son.

On October 10th, 17th and 24th of 1666, church banns were read for Pietro to marry Dominica Riportella. She was born on March 30, 1646, and baptized the next day as Dominica Julia in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Margarita Tornetta and her husband Vincenzo Riportella. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) She was also the younger sister to ancestor Mario Riportella who married Antonia Pastorella. Pietro and 20 year-old Dominica married on October 31, 1666, in Sciacca at the St. Vito church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage image upper left to enlarge in a new window/tab.)

Eight Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Petro and Dominica Marino. The first four were baptized in the St. Michele parish and the last four in the mother church parish as follows — ancestor Leonarda was named after her paternal grandmother; Giuseppe, named after his paternal grandfather was born and baptized as Joseph Paulus on September 6, 1670, but his baptism record lists his mother as Leonarda, not Dominica; Antonia was born on April 27, 1672, and baptized the next day as Antonia Margarita Joanna, her middle name after her maternal grandmother, but she may have died young; Paolo was born and baptized as Paulus Franciscus Ignaczius on July 31, 1673; an unnamed child was born on September 19, 1675, and baptized the next day, the first in the mother church parish; Vincenzo, named after his maternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Vincenius Honofrius Carolus on March 1, 1678; another Antonia was born and baptized as Antonia Margarita Vita on December 1, 1680; and Francisco, who was born on June 6, 1684, and baptized the next day as Francisus Vincencius Stephanius.

It is documented that Pietro and Dominica were both alive when they daughter ancestor Leonarda was first married on May 6, 1685. Dominica died and was buried in the Convent of St. Francisco outside the city on December 25, 1714. Her mother church burial record lists her as Dom’ca wife of Petri Marino alias Citola, about 64 years old, but she was actual 68 years old when she died. (Mouse over and click on her church burial record image lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Pietro was still alive when she died and lived almost 2 more years. He died and was buried in the St. Michele church cemetery on September 6, 1716. His mother church burial record lists him as Petrus Marino alias Citola about 80 years old, but he was probably only about 74 years old when he died. (Mouse over and click on his church burial record image lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) At this time, nothing else is known about them.

~< Back to Chart >~

Dominico Sutera was born on August 22, 1642, and baptized as Dominicus Bartholomeo the next day in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Angela Ficara and her husband Vito Sutera. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge in a new window or tab.)

On August 30th, September 6th and 8th of 1665, church banns were read for Dominico to marry Anna Interrante. She was born and baptized as Giovanna Calogera on August 14, 1650, in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Francisca Ginga and her husband Vito Interrante. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image lower right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Twenty-three year-old Dominico married 15 year-old Anna at the St. Vito church in Sciacca on November 1, 1665. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage image left to enlarge in a new window/tab.)

Twelve Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Dominico and Anna Sutera. The first two were baptized in the St. Vito church and the rest in the mother church, but they are not all ancestor Anna Interrante’s children. The first seven were her children as follows — Vito, named after both of his grandfathers, was born on the morning of September 6, 1666, and baptized as Vitus Honufruis Stephanus that same day, but may have died young; Angela Felix, named after her paternal grandmother, was born on the evening of May 18, 1668, and baptized the next day; ancestor Ignazio; Calogero was born and baptized as Calogerus Baldassar on January 5, 1674; another Vito was born on September 13, 1676, and baptized as Vitus Honuphrius the next day; Andreas was born and baptized as Andreas Cosmos Damianus, after his paternal great-grandfather, on the evening of October 14, 1679; and Maria Accursia was born on the morning of May 6, 1683, and baptized that same day.

It is documented on both ancestor Ignazio and his brother Calogero’s marriage records that their mother, Anna Interrante, was deceased prior to 1693. Burial records are not available for research between 1674 and 1690, so her burial could not be found. The only other marriage for a Dominico and an Anna was in 1687, but this record states that Dominico was the widow of Maria Mino. A Sciacca marriage record between Dominico and Maria Mino or diMino could not be found, neither are their baptism records for a couple by these names, so the name Maria Mino may have been a recording error. But it also could be that he had a second wife who died shortly after they married! This will remain a mystery. What is known is that Dominico married Anna Sciacca on November 22, 1687, at the St. Vito church in Sciacca and they had five more children as follows — Angela Isabella Simona was born and baptized on the evening of October 28, 1688; Onofria was born on June 18, 1693, and baptized the next day as Onuphria Margarita Calogera; Gaspare was born on February 26, 1695, and baptized as Gaspar Philippus Albertus the next day; Francisca was born and baptized as Francisca Catherina Paula the next day; and Dominico, who was named after his deceased father, was born and baptized as Dominicus Matthius Melchior on the evening of February 24, 1699.

As noted above Dominico died 7 months before his last child was born. He was buried on July 21, 1698, on the grounds of the Convent of St. Francisco outside the city. (Mouse over and click on his church burial record image lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as Dominicus Sutera alias Crapa 53 years old, but he was almost 56 years old when he died.

At this time, nothing else is known about them.

~< Back to Chart >~

Antonino Avona was born the evening of June 12, 1648, and was baptized as Antonius Joseph Domincius the next day in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Giuseppe Avona and his wife Antonina Quartararo. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Antonino is also the older brother to ancestor Anna Lauria Avona who married Francesco Prinzivalli.

On March 29th, 30th and 31st of 1671 church banns were read for Antonino to marry the widow Leonarda Chiarello. She was also born and baptized in the mother church parish of Sciacca, but 4 years later on April 25, 1652, the daughter of Marta Rizzuto and her husband Giuseppe Chiarello. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image lower right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Being less than a month old, she is the last child listed on her father’s 1652 Rivelo (tax record), which is shown in his bio. Leonarda is also the much younger sister to ancestor Dominico Chiarello. On April 14, 1670, 18 year-old Leonardo married 30 year-old Pietro Verde at the Sciacca mother church. He was the son of ancestors Giovanna Ciulla and her husband Carlo Verde and brother to ancestor Vincenzo Verde. Leonardo and Pietro were married the same day as her brother Angelo married his sister Palma. Six months later Pietro died and was buried on October 27, 1670. Because a baptism record was not found for a child of Pietro and Leonardo, it is believed they never had a child. Just over five months later, maybe to make sure she wasn’t already pregnant, Leonarda married again.

Eight days short of a year after her first marriage, the almost 19 year-old widow, Leonarda married almost 23 year-old Antonino on April 6, 1671, at the Sciacca mother church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage image left to enlarge in a new window/tab.) On their marriage record his surname is listed as d’Avona, and her parents are not listed. She is simply listed as Leonarda relict of the deceased Petro Virdi.

Only six Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Antonino and Leonarda d’ Avona as follows — Antonina, named after her paternal grandmother, was born and baptized as Antonina Philippa on the morning of December 23, 1671; ancestor Rosa; Giuseppe, named after both of his grandfathers, was born and baptized as Joseph Jacobus on the morning of August 18, 1677, but may have died young; Ignazio was born and baptized as Ignazius Vincenzius Bartolomeo on August 23, 1679; Cosmos was born and baptized as Cosmas Damianius Joseph Vitus on the evening of August 22, 1689; and another Giuseppe, who was born and baptized as Joseph Cosmos Onyphrius, on the morning of July 21, 1692. Why there is a 10 year gap between the fourth and fifth child is unknown, but no other children were found for them in the available Sciacca church records.

It is not known when Antonino and Leonarda died, but it is documented that they both were alive on January 29, 1693, the date that their daughter ancestor Rosa was married. At this time, nothing else is known about them.

~< Back to Chart >~

Francisco Mandracchia was baptized as Joseph Francisco on November 3, 1605, in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Caterinella Bennichi and her husband Vincenzo Mandracchia. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image right to enlarge in a new window or tab.)

Seventeen and a half year-old Francisco married Pietra Gulotta on May 8, 1623, in Sambuca, which is also in the providence of Agrigento. (Mouse over and click on their Sambuca church marriage image left to enlarge in a new window/tab.) She was probably born there, the only known daughter of Francisca, whose surname is unknown, and her husband Paolo Gulotta. A baptism record for Pietra has not been found in either the Sciacca or Sambuca records.

Six church baptism records have been found for the children of Francisco and Petra Mandracchia, the first in Sambuca and the other five in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca as follows — Catharina, named after her paternal grandmother, was baptized on June 2, 1624, in Sambuca; Rosalas Catherina was born and baptized on November 16, 1626, the first in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca; Francisca, named after her maternal grandmother, was born and baptized on June 27, 1628; Vincenza Antonina, given the female version of her paternal grandfather, was born on August 18, 1630, and baptized the next day; Vincenzo, named after his paternal grandfather was born and baptized as Vincenzius Natelis on December 24, 1634, and may have died young; and ancestor Vincenzo, who was also named after his paternal grandfather.

Nothing is known about Pietro’s parents Paolo and Francisca Gulotta. It is also not known when Francisco and Pietra died, but it is documented that he was deceased and she was alive on January 10, 1666, the date of their son ancestor Vincento’s marriage. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about them.

~<^>~

Vito Sutera was baptized as Vito Leonardo on February 7, 1605, in the St. Vito parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Margarita Mineo and her husband Andreas Sutera. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) He is also the older brother to ancestor Calogero Sutera who married Luciana Luvaro.

On August 29th, September 4th and 8th of 1627, church banns were read for Vito to marry Angela Ficara. She was baptized as Angila Antonina, after her paternal grandmother, on September 12, 1611, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Antonina Coppula and her husband Adamo Ficara. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image middle right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) She is also the older sister of Rosalia Ficara who married Gaspare Migliore. Twenty-two year old Vito and 16 year-old Angela were married on October 27, 1627, in Sciacca at the mother church, The Basilica of Maria Santissima del Soccorso. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage image upper left to enlarge in a new window/tab.)

In Pellegrino Mortillaro’s book, Andrea Randazzo un notaio storico Volume Primo, there is a entry for a marriage contract between Vito Sutera and Angela Ficara, but it is dated October 14, 1628, almost a year after they married. (Mouse over and click on their marriage contract entry image right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) At first glance it may seem to be a dowry restitution contract, but they did not have a child for another year. It is very possible that this was actually in 1627, a few weeks before they married, and it was misfiled in the notary’s records.

Seven Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Vito and Angela Sutera as follows — Margarita Calogera, named after her paternal grandmother, was born on December 14, 1629, and baptized the next day; Giuseppe, who was given a middle name after his paternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Joseph Andreas on November 18, 1630; Caterina was born and baptized as Chaterina Calogera on April 29, 1633, but died at 15 months old and was buried on August 11, 1634; another Caterina was born on the evening of July 2, 1635, and baptized as Caterina Jacoba, the next day; Vincenzo was born on December 23, 1636, and baptized as Vincencus Paulus Franciscus, the next day; Maria Antonia was born and baptized on May 6, 1638; and ancestor Dominico.

Angela died and was buried in the St. Dominco cemetery on September 11, 1644, a day short of her 33rd birthday. (Mouse over and click on her church burial record image lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her mother church burial record lists her as Angela Sutera age 35. Vito was left with several young children, so four months later he decided to remarry.

On January 25th and 26th of 1645, church banns were read for Vito to marry Rosalia Galluzzo. They married at the Sciacca mother church a few days later on January 29, 1645. They had at least six children together, 4 daughters and 2 sons, all baptized in the Sciacca mother church.

It is not known when Vito died, but he was alive when his last child with Rosalia was born on July 26, 1658, but deceased when his son ancestor Dominico was married on November 1, 1665. For now this is all that is known about them.

~< Back to Chart >~

Vito Interrante was born and baptized as Vitis Calogerus on August 26, 1627, in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Filippa Gigante and her husband Leonardo Interrante. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) He is also the older brother of Michele Interrante who married Giovanna Indelicato.

On November 23, 1649, Sciacca notary Carlo Musca filed a notarial marriage contract between Vito and Francisca Ginga. (Mouse over and click on their marriage contract entry image upper left to enlarge in a new window or tab.) She was born on March 6, 1625, and baptized the next day in the St. Vito parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Cecilia Maoraro and her husband Giuseppe Ginga. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image lower right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) A month later church banns were read on December 26th, 27th, and January 3rd of 1650 for them to marry. Five days later 22 year-old Vito and 24 year-old Francisca were married At the Sciacca St. Michele church on January 8, 1650. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage image lower left to enlarge in a new window/tab.)

Eight Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Vito and Francisca Interrante. The first six were baptized in the St Michele parish and the last two in the St. Vito parish as follows —ancestor Anna was born a little more than 7 months after her parents married; Filippa Paula, named after her paternal grandmother, was born and baptized on December 20, 1653; Leonardo, named after his paternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Leonardus Nicolaus Gaetanus on the evening of December 6, 1655; Cecilia Angela Antonina, named after her maternal grandmother, was born and baptized on July 17, 1657; Cecilia Calogera was born and baptized on the evening of November 29, 1660; Onofrio was born on the evening of March 6, 1663, and baptized the next day as Honofrius Joseph Antoninus; Giuseppe, named after his maternal grandfather, was born on the evening of February 9, 1665, and was baptized as Joseph Marius Albertus, their first child to be baptized in the St. Vito parish; and Paolina, who was born on the morning of April 1, 1667, and baptized that same day as Paulina Antonina.

It is not known when Vito and Francisca died, but they both were alive when their last child was born on April 1, 1667. For now, nothing else is known about them.

~<^>~

Vincenzo Mandracchia and Caterinella Bennichi’s ancestries are unknown, but they lived in and raised a family in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. They entered into a notarial marriage contract in Sciacca, with notary Vito Maniscalco, on November 17, 1586, when the dowry was decided. (Mouse over and click on their notarial marriage contract index line image right to enlarge in a new window/tab.) They probably married at the St. Michele church in Sciacca within a few weeks or months later, but these records are not available for research.

Nine Sciacca St. Michele baptism records have been found for the children of Vincenzo and Caterina Mandracchia. On some of these records, he is listed as Dominico Vincenzo and both of their names are abbreviated. None of the records give a birth date just baptism dates as follows — Augustina on March 11, 1589; Leticia Maria on October 27, 1594; Maria on May 9, 1597, who may have died young; Giovanni as Gio: Battista Leonardo on August 7, 1598; Pietro Vito on August 9, 1602, who may have died young; Antonino as Antonino ioanni on June 13, 1604; ancestor Francesco; Pietro Antonino on November 24, 1609; and another Maria on July 31, 1612.

It is not known when Vincenzo and Caterinella died. Unfortunately, this is all that is known about them at this time.

~<^>~

Andreas Sutera’s ancestry is unknown, but he lived and raised a family in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. On some of his documents he is listed with an alias of Cappello.

It is documented in Pellegrino Mortillaro’s Sciacca notary transcription book, Andrea Randazzo un notaio storico Volume Primo, that on April 25, 1604, notary Giovanni Vella filed a notarial marriage contract between Andreas and 19 year-old Margarita Mineo. (Mouse over and click on their marriage contract entry image upper right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) She was baptized on November 29, 1584, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Giuseppe Mineo and his wife Beatrice, whose surname is unknown. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image uper left to enlarge in a new window or tab.) A church marriage document could not be found for them in the records available for research, but it should be noted that St Michele’s church records don’t start until 1607, so they probably married there. They are the parents of two ancestors.

Nine Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Andrea and Margarita Sutera, the first in the St Vito’s parish records and the rest in the mother church parish records. Their children are as follows — ancestor Vito; Augostino Vito was baptized on August 28, 1606; Antonino on November 14, 1608, who died at 9 months old on September 1, 1609; ancestor Calogero; Gaspare Philippo on May 12, 1613; Carlo Melchiori on March 18, 1615; another Antonino was born and baptized as Antoninius Martinus on the morning of November 12, 1619; Francisca Diana was born and baptized on February 19, 1621; and Giuseppe, named after his maternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Joseph Joannes on February 4, 1625, and grew up to marry Accursia Rizzuto in 1648. It should be noted that most of these baptism records abbreviated the children’s names greatly. There is another son named Baldassare whose baptism record has not been found, but a marriage record has been found that documents his parents as Andrea and Margarita Sutera. On January 12, 1642, he married Caterina Calogera Ficara, the daughter of ancestors Antonina Coppula and Adamo Ficara.

It is documented that Andreas was alive when his son ancestor Calogero was married on September 28, 1631, but deceased when his son Baldassare was married in 1642. It is also documented that Margarita was still alive when her son Giuseppe was married on September 28, 1648. Andres died and was buried in the mother church cemetery on April 30, 1637. (Mouse over and click on his church burial record image lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His mother church burial record lists him with his alias, Andreas Cappallo, 52 years old. This brings his birth to about 1585, but he was probably a bit older than that. Margarita did not remarry and live more than 22 years after her husband died. She died and was buried in the St. Dominico cemetery on February 9, 1660. (Mouse over and click on her church burial record image lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her mother church burial record lists her as Margarita Sutera alias Cappello about 85 years old, but she was actually only 75 when she died. At this time, nothing else is known about them.
