Paolo Licata was probably born in the mother church parish of  Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Maria Migliore and her husband Giuseppe Licata. On December 31, 1746, January 1st and 6th of 1747, church banns were read for Paolo to marry Caterina Caracappa. She was born and baptized as Catharina Joanna on the evening of September 2, 1734, in the mother church parish in Sciacca, the daughter of Giovanna Interrante and her husband Ettore Caracappa. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Paolo and 12 year-old Caterina were married at the mother church in Sciacca just over a week later on January 15, 1747. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marrage image left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)

There is a 1747 Sciacca Rivelo (tax record) for a 23 year-old Paolo Licata and his wife Caterina, who have no children, living in the mother church (Matrice) parish but his parents are listed as Accursio and Maria. This could be them with an incorrect father’s name, as they were newly married, but it is not certain. (Mouse over and click on their 1747 Rivelo image lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)

Eight Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Paulo and Caterina Licata as follows — Giuseppe was born on April 27, 1750, and baptized the next day as Joseph Franciscus Paulus, after his paternal grandfather; Francesco was born on August 30, 1753, and baptized the next day as Franciscus Leontorius; Accursia Maria was born and baptized after her paternal grandmother, on the morning of June 22, 1755; Leonardo, was born on April 26, 1765, and baptized the next day as Leonardus Joseph, may be the Luigi who married Caterina Zinna and died in Sciacca on October 30, 1837; Ettore, named after his maternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Hecterus Ignazius on July 22, 1768; and Sebastiano, who was born and baptized on August 28, 1771, as Sebastianus Lotharius Joannus, married Maria Maggio, and died in Sciacca on September 2, 1843.

It is not known when Paolo and Caterina died, but they were deceased when their son ancestor Michele was married on October 26, 1783. Unfortunately, at this time, nothing else is known about them.

Giuseppe Licata was born about 1676, probably in the mother church parish in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Maria Bivona and her husband Augostino Licata. Church banns were read on January 17th, 24th and 31st of 1700 for Giuseppe to marry Maria Migliore. She was born on March 13, 1684, and baptized the next day as Anna Maria Fara, in the mother church parish in Sciacca, the daughter of Domenica Triolo and Gaspare Migliore. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Giuseppe and 15 year-old Maria were married in Sciacca on February 2, 1700. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record image left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)

Nine mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Joseph and Maria Licata as follows — Augostino, named after his paternal grandfather, was born on October 2, 1701, baptized as Augustinus Antonino Gaspare the next day, and died on August 23, 1704; Onufrius Salvatore Gaspare was born and baptized on March 1, 1704; Anna Francesca was baptized on the evening of September 29, 1706, and baptized the next day; Anna Maria was born and baptized on the morning of September 14, 1707; Leonardo was born and baptized as Leonardus Augostinus Accursius, on September 16, 1708, but died six months later on April 1, 1709; another Leonardo was born and baptized as Leonardus Francescus Ignazius, on January 27, 1711; Aurelia Domenica Anna was born on March 28, 1714, and baptized the next day; Lucino was born on December 14, 1715, and baptized the next day as Joseph Lucianus; and Vincenzo, who was born and baptized as Vincenzius Joannes on November 2, 1726. A baptism record for ancestor Paolo has not been found yet.

There is a 1714 Rivelo for this family that is dated July 13, 1714. (Mouse over and click on their 1714 Rivelo image lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) It lists Giuseppe as being 36 years old, which is probably 2 years off, as he had a sister born in 1678. Giuseppe’s father Augostino is listed as being alive, living in the mother church parish. Giuseppe and Maria’s his two sons are listed next, 10 year-old Gaspare, probably the Onufrius Salvatore Gaspare listed above, and 3 year-old Leonardo. After the children, Giuseppe’s wife is listed as Maria Licata. It seems they had some property and gold (oro).

From various 1747 Sciacca Riveli (tax records) for the surname of Licata with parents names of Giuseppe and Maria, additional information has been found for four of their sons — 45 year-old Gaspare, married a woman named Anna; 35 year-old Leonardo married a woman named Maria; 28 year-old Lucino, married a woman named Rosa and had a daughter named Domenica; and 21 year-old Vincenzo, married a woman named Leonarda. Only one of these tax records is undated, the other four are dated April 9, 1747. Those four list the father as deceased Giuseppe and the mother as living Maria.

It is not known when Giuseppe and Maria died, but it is documented that he was deceased and she was alive when their son ancestor Paolo was married on January 15, 1747. Maria was still alive a few months later, as recorded on three of her sons April 9, 1747 tax records. There is however, a mother church burial record dated April 22, 1742, for a 72 year-old Joseph Licata, which calculates his birth to 1670. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial church record image lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)Although there is no other identifying information on this record, and his age is an estimate, this record is probably for ancestor Giuseppe. A burial record for Maria has not been found yet. Unfortunately, at this time, nothing else is known about them.

~<^>~

Augostino Licata was the son of Francesco Licata and his wife Giovanna, whose surname is unknown. They were from Aragona, Agrigento, Sicily, Italy, which is less than 50 miles south east of Sciacca. It is assumed that Augostino was born and raised there.

Sciacca church banns were read on September 29th, October 7th and 8th of 1673 for Augostino to marry Maria Bivona. She was born and baptized as Maria Accursia Pha on April 12, 1651, in the mother church parish in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the daughter of Calogero Bivona and his wife CaterinaVento. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Augostino and 22 year-old Maria were married at the mother church in Sciacca on October 22, 1673. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record image upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)

Ten mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Augustino and Maria Licata as follows — Francesco, named after his paternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Francescius Calogerius Stephanius on October 13, 1674; Catherina Giovanna Calogera, named after both of her grandmothers was born on August 14, 1678, and baptized the next day; Anna Maria Caterina was born and baptized on July 9, 1680; Onofrio was born and baptized as Onofrius Calogerus Lucianus on December 13, 1681; Rosalia Caterina Calogera was born and baptized on the evening of April 18, 1684; another Francesco was born on January 12, 1686, and baptized as Francescus Calogerus Melchoir, the next day; Dorothea Ignazia Xavina was born on May 22, 1688, and baptized the next day; Antonina Cathaina Palma was born and baptized on the evening of April 8, 1691; a third Francesco was born and baptized as Francius Xiaverius Vincentius on July 22, 1693; and Anna Accursia was born on May 3, 1696, and baptized the next day. A baptism record for ancestor Giuseppe has not been found yet.

The only thing known about Augostino’s parents, Francesco and Giovanna, is that they were deceased when Augostino was married in 1673. It isdocumented that Augostino and Maria were both alive when their son ancestor Giuseppe was married on February 2, 1700. Eleven years later, Maria died and was buried in the Convent of Santa Maria di Monte Carmelo cemetery in Sciacca on March 4, 1711. (Mouse over and click on her Latin church burial record image lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her mother church burial record lists her as Maria wife of Augustini Licata, about 60 years old, which is close to her actual age of 59. It is also documented that Augostino was still alive on their son’s 1714 Rivelo (tax record). There is a mother church burial record dated February 22, 1734, for a 90 year old Augustinus Licata that is probably ancestor Augostino. (Mouse over and click on his Latin church burial record image lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Although 90 years old is probably just an estimate, it puts his birth about 1644, which is very reasonable. This record states that he was buried in the Convent of St. Francesco cemetery that was outside the city. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about them.

~< Back to Chart >~

Gaspare Migliore was probably born about 1640 in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Baldassare Migliore and his wife Francesca Maniscalco. Gaspare was the father of two ancestors by different mothers — Baldassare by his first wife and Maria by his second wife.

Sciacca church banns were read on March 9th, 10th and 11th of 1662, for Gaspare to marry Rosalia Ficara. She was born on February 19, 1635, and baptized the next day as Rosalia Caterina in the mother church parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Adamo Ficara and his wife Antonina Coppula. She was also the younger sister of Angela Ficara who married Vito Sutera. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Gaspare and Rosalia married a month later on April 17th at the mother church in Sciacca. (Mouse over and click on Gaspare and Rosalia's Latin church marriage record image upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)

Four mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Gaspare and Rosalia Migliore as follows — Francesca Gaetana Maria, their first daughter, was born on the evening of January 14, 1663, and baptized the next day with the name of her paternal grandmother; their first son ancestor Baldassare, was named after his paternal grandfather; Catharina Calogera was born on the evening of June 5, 1666, and baptized the next day; and Giovanna, who was born and baptized as Joanna Antonia Calogera on November 7, 1668. Thirteen days after the last child was born, Rosalia died on November 20, 1668. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial church record image right middle to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her mother church death record lists her as Rosalia wife of Gaspare Migliore, 33 years old. Although death record ages are sometimes incorrect, this one was correct.

Almost a year and a half after the death of his wife, on May 15th, 18th and 25th of 1670, church banns were read for Gaspare to marry thewidow Domenica Triolo. Her ancestry is unknown, but she was the widow of Cosimo Billera, and they lived in Catabellotta. Catabellotta is also in the province of Agrigento, about 20 miles inland, and north east of Sciacca. Gaspare and Domenica married at the mother church in Sciacca on June 4, 1670. (Mouse over and click on Gaspare and Domenica's Latin church marriage record image left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Their marriage document does not include their parents names, it just lists their former spouses.

Besides ancestor Maria, Gaspare and Domenica had at least three other children baptized at the mother church in Sciacca as follows — Calogero was born on July 21, 1671, and baptized the next day as Calogerus Pellagrinus; Leonarda Rosalia in the evening of October 16, 1673; and Vincenzo, who was born and baptized as on Vincenzus Leonardus Accursius on December 8, 1675. They probably had other children, but these are the ones found so far.

It is not known when Domenica died, but she was still alive when her daughter ancestor Maria was married on February 2, 1700. Gaspare didn’t see his daughter get married, as he died and was buried in the St. Maria de Monte Carmelo cemetery in Sciacca on June 15, 1699, about 8 months before ancestor Maria was married. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial church record image lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His mother church burial record states he was 60 years old, but being that he had siblings born in 1632, 1634, 1637 and 1639, he may have been born in 1635, 1636 or 1640. A Sciacca baptism record for him in those years has not yet been found.

Unfortunately, nothing else is known about them.

~<^>~

Calogero Bivona was born and baptized on June 17, 1623, as Vincenzo Calogerus in the mother church parish in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Antonino Bivona and his wife Maria Benivento. Calogero was the brother of ancestor Silvestro Bivona, who was about 7 years older than him. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)

On May 22, 1649, Sciacca notary Onofrio Sole, issued a notarial marriage contract for 25 year-old Calogero to marry Caterina Vento. (Mouse over and click on their marriage contract entry upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) She was born and baptized as Catharina Philippa on April 30, 1625, in the mother church parish in Sciacca, the daughter of Margarita Rizzuto and her husband Vito Vento. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image middle right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) A church marriage record can not be found for Calogero and Caterina, but they probably married within a month of their marriage contract.

Seven mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Calogero and Catharina Bivona as follows — Antonino was born on March 22, 1650, and baptized as Antonius Accursius Philippus, the next day; ancestor Maria; Leonarda Calogera was born on the evening of December 13, 1655, and baptized the next day; Giuseppe was born and baptized as Joseph Pasqual Leonardus on April 21, 1658; Augustino was born and baptized as Augustinus Gaetanius on August 27,1661; Anna Maria Leonarda was born and baptized on December 22, 1663; and another Antonino was born and baptized as Antoninus Honuphrius on September 8, 1666.

There is a 1652 Sciacca Rivelo (tax record) dated May 9, 1652, for this family. It lists Calogero as 30 years old, his parents as the living Antonino and deceased Maria Bivona, his wife Caterina and their daughter ancestor Maria. (Mouse over and click on the 1652 Rivelo image middle left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) It is not known why their first born son Antonino isn’t on this tax record, as a mother church burial record could not be found for him. There is nothing else on this tax record, so they didn’t own anything of worth.

It is documented that Calogero was deceased and Caterina was still alive when their daughter ancestor Maria was married on October 22, 1673. Calogero died and was buried in the Convent of St. Augustino cemetery on September 17, 1666, nine days after their last child was born. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record image lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His mother church burial record stats his correct age of 43 years old. Eight years later Caterina died and was a buried in the St. Agostino convent cemetery in Sciacca on December 11, 1674. Her mother church burial record list her as Catharina wife of the deceased Calogeri Bivona, about 45 years old. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record image lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) She was actually 49 years old when she died. This is all that is known about them at this time.

~< Back to Chart >~

Adamo Ficara was baptized on June 20, 1586, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Antonino Ficara and his wife Angela, whose surname is unknown. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)

On October 24, 1610, 24 year-old Adamo married Antonina Coppula, who was about 18 years old, at the mother church in Sciacca. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record image upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) She was the daughter of Damiano Coppula and his wife Giulia Fazello. Two days later Sciacca notary Antonino Buscemi filed a notarial marriage contract for them.

Twelve Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Adamo and Antonella Ficara as follows — ancestor Angela, named after her paternal grandmother; Marius Giuseppi was baptized on February 16, 1614; Vincenzo Antonino on October 21, 1615; Stefano on December 14, 1618; Giuseppe was born and baptized as Joseph on the evening of July 30, 1620; Calogero was baptized as Calogero Philippus on May 28, 1622; the first female, Catharina was born and baptized on March 12, 1624, but she probably died young; Catharina Calogera was baptized on June 18, 1625, was known as Calogera and married Baldassare Sutera, the son of ancestors Andreas Sutera and Margarita Mineo; Caterina Maria was born and baptized late in the day on November 14, 1627, and may have died young; another Caterina was born and baptized on July 28, 1629; Antonino was born on March 17, 1633, and baptized as Antoninus Francisus the next day; and lastly ancestor Rosalia. Because four daughters were named Caterina, it is a good possibility that was Antonina’s mother’s name.

It is documented that Adamo was deceased when his daughter ancestor Rosalia was married on April 17, 1662. Adamo died and was buried on July 18, 1648, in Sciacca. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record image lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His brief mother church burial record is hard to read, but it states he was 70 years old, but he was actually only 62 years old when he died. Antonina lived over 23 more years and never remarried. She died and was buried in the church of St. Vito cemetery on April 8, 1672. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record image lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her St. Michele burial record lists her as, Antonia wife of deceased Adamo la Ficarra, 80 years old, which puts her birth to about 1592, but burial record ages are usually just an estimate. For now, this is all that’s known about them.

~<^>~

Baldassare Migliore was baptized as Baldassa Leonardo on April 5, 1607, in the St. Michele church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Bartolomeo Migliore and his wife Margaritella Cottone, and the older brother to ancestor Filippa. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)

On May 15, 1631, Sciacca notary Antonio Macerata issued a notarial dowry contract for Baldassare to marry Francesca Maniscalco. She was baptized at the mother church in Sciacca as Francesca Leonarda, on October 22, 1615, the daughter of Pietro Maniscalco and his wife Filippa Majenza. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)  Two months after the contract was filed, church banns were read in mid July for them to marry. Two weeks later on August 4, 1631, 24 year-old Baldassare and 15 year-old Filippa were married at the mother church in Sciacca. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record image right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)

Four mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Baldassare and Francesca Migliore as follows — their first daughter, Filippa Margarita was born and baptized as Pha Margerita on March 18, 1632, named after both grandmothers; Pietro was born on June 21, 1634, and baptized the next day as Petrus Joseph Paulinus, after his maternal grandfather; Calogero was born on October 2, 1637, and baptized the next day; and another Filippa born and baptized on May 2, 1639, as Philippa Domenica. Unfortunately, a baptism record for ancestor Gaspare has not been found.

It is not known when Francesca and Baldassare died, but it is documented that she was deceased and he was still alive when their son ancestor Gaspare was first married on April 17, 1662. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about them.

~< Back to Chart >~

Vito Vento was born about 1584, the son of Giacomo and Calogera Vento. Where he was born and raised is unknown, but he lived and raised a family in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. In 1607, on the 28th of October, and the 4th and 9th of November, church banns were read for Vito to marry Margarita Rizzuto. She was baptized in the mother church parish, on March 8, 1588, the daughter of Caterina Genoisi and her husband Vincenzo Rizzuto, and sister to ancestor Leonardo. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)  Vito and 19 year-old Margarita were married at St. Michele’s church on November 25, 1607. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record image upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)

Only five mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Vito and Margarita Vento as follows — Vita Calogera on November 19, 1616; Vincenzo Antonino on November 29, 1618; Apollonia was born and baptized on December 2, 1622; ancestor Caterina; and Calogero who was born on August 24, 1628, and baptized the next day as Calogerus Joseph. No other children were found for them in the three Sciacca churches whose records are available for research. Why nine years went by before their first child was born is a mystery.

Vito died and was buried in the St. Dominici convent cemetery in Sciacca on November 10, 1634. (Mouse over and click on his Latin church burial record image middle right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as Vito, 50 years old son of Jacobi de Vento. It should be noted that Jacobi is the Latin name for Giacomo. Being 50 at death, calculates his birth to about 1584, but burial record ages are usually just an estimate.

There are two St. Michele burial records in the name of Margarita Vento. Either one could be for ancestor Margarita, as both of them are brief burial records that do not have any other identifying information on them including a husband’s name or even if she was a widow. The earlier one is dated December 3, 1641, for a 60 year old Margarita La Vento, who was buried in the St. Michele church cemetery. (Mouse over and click on the Latin church burial record image lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Although ancestor Margarita would only have been 53 years old at this time, this could be her burial record. The later one is dated July 21, 1649, for a 60 year old Margarita Vento, who was buried in the St. Dominici convent cemetery. (Mouse over and click on the Latin church burial record image lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Being that this record is closer to her actual age of 61 and she was buried in the same cemetery as her husband, it seems more likely that this is ancestor Margarita’s burial record. Unfortunately, at this time, nothing else is known about them.

~<^>~

Antonino Ficara and his wife Angela’s ancestries are unknown, but they lived and raised a family in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. A Sciacca church marriage or contract could not be found for them. There is however a marriage contract dated January 16, 1564, for an Antonello Ficara and Caterinella Mara. She could be a first wife or maybe Angela was her middle name. This date fits in with the baptism of Antonino and Angela’s first child. Unfortunately documentation has not been found to confirm any of this. It should be noted on almost all of their children’s baptism records Antonino is called Antonello.

Twelve Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Antonello and Angela Ficara, but the first four records only list the father's name, Antonello, without mentioning the mother. The twelve baptisms are as follows — Joannella Julia on March 17, 1565; Francesco Vincenzo on September 12, 1566; Lisa Francesa on February 20, 1569; Nunzio on March 29, 1570; Jacopo, the first to have his mother’s name on the record was baptized on July 25, 1572; Desiata Gatuza on April 1, 1577; Gasparo on September 8, 1578; Filippo was baptized as Pho on September 23, 1579; Margarita Nardulla on June 14, 1582; Matteo Antonino on May 18, 1584; ancestor Adamo; and Caterina Maria on July 27, 1588.

It is not known when Anonino and Angela died, so this is all that is known about them.

~< Back to Chart >~

Damiano Coppula’s ancestry is unknown, but he lived and raised a family in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. On June 11, 1576, Domino married the widow Giulia Fazello. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record image right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Although a Sciacca baptism record could not be found for her, she was probably the daughter of Giacomo Fazello and his wife Giulia Provenzano. Less than two years before she married Damiano, Sciacca notary Giovanni Vella filed a notarial marriage contract on August 25, 1574, for Giulia to marry Vito Bellisi. Almost two months later, on October 18, 1574, Giulia and Vito were married in the Sciacca mother church. (Mouse over and click on Giulia's first marriage record image left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) This marriage record lists her father’s name. No baptism records for their children were found. They were not married long, as Vito died, probably in 1575, or early 1576, before she married Damiano.

Only three Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Damiano and Julia Coppula as follows — Vincenza Calogera was baptized on December 31, 1577; Giovanni was baptized as Jo: Marco on November 27, 1578; and a daughter was baptized on February 2, 1583, who is listed as Maria in the index, but her name is hard to read on the register record. A Sciacca baptism record for ancestor Antonina could not be found in the three churches that have records available for research. They probably had more children, but these are the ones documented to date.

It is not known when Damiano and Giulia died, but it is documented that he was alive when their daughter ancestor Antonina was married on October 24, 1610. For now, this is all that is known about them.

Bartolomeo Migliore was baptized on September 21, 1578, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Francesco Migliore and his wife Bartololilla, whose surname is unknown. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)

On October 21, 1595, Sciacca notary Sigismondo Mandraccia filed a notarial marriage contract for Bartolomeo Migliore and Margaritella Cottone, whose ancestry is unknown. (Mouse over and click on their marriage contract entry upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) They probably married soon after this date at St. Michele’s church, but marriage records are not available for this time period. They are the parents of two ancestors.

Bartolomeo and Margarita had at least seven children who were born in Sciacca. The first three were baptized in the St. Michele’s church parish and the last four at the mother church parish there, on the following dates — Calogero Joseph on June 10, 1600; Francesco Antonino Petro on November 22, 1603; ancestor Baldassare; Milchiore on August 2, 1610; Vita on June 15, 1613; ancestor Filippa; and Stefano as Stephanius Vincenzo who was born and baptized on December 29, 1619.

Itis not known when or where Margarita died but it is documented that Bartolomeo was deceased when his son ancestor Baldassare was married on August 4, 1631. Bartola Miglore wrote and filed his will with Sciacca notary Gaspare Falsone on April 10, 1628. Three months later, Bartolomeo died and was buried in the St. Maria de Monte Carmelo cemetery in Sciacca on July 10, 1628. (Mouse over and click on his Latin church burial record imagelower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as Baerholomeus de Migliore, age 55, who died in his own house last night. He was actually only 49 years old when he died. An inventory of his property was taken and filed by the same notary on August 7, 1628. (Mouse over and click on his property inventory entry lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Unfortunately, at this time, nothing else is known about them.

Pietro Maniscalco was baptized as Petro Nofrio on June 30, 1556, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Giovanni Beneditto Maniscalco and his unnamed wife. There is a notarial marriage contract entry in Pellegrino Mortillaro’s transcription of notary records called Andrea Randazzo un notaio storico Volume Primo, dated August 2, 1606, for Pietro Maniscalco and Philippa Majenza. Her ancestry is unknown. A Sciacca church marriage record could not be found for them but they lived in Sciacca and raised a family there. They are the parents of two documented ancestors, and another ancestor who most likely is their son.

Only six mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Petro and Pha Maniscalco, as follows — Giovanni, named after his paternal grandfather, was baptized on April 6, 1608; Caterina on February 24, 1610; Leonarda Margarita on June 20, 1613; ancestor Francesca; ancestor Vincenzo Leonardo on March 6, 1618; and Caterina Leonardo, who was born and baptized on October 3, 1623. There is a very good possibility that ancestor Pasquale Maniscalco who married Filippa Migliore was also their son, but a baptism record for him hasn’t been found.

Filippa died and was buried in the St. Domenico cemetery in Sciacca on August 22, 1639. Her mother church burial record states, Philippa wife of Petri Maniscalco was 60 years old when the died, which calculates her birth year to about 1579, but death record ages are usually an estimate. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record image lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Pietro died, and was buried in the church of St Augustino cemetery on March 5, 1648. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record image left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as Petrus Maniscalco alias Mollarella about 95, but his actual age was 91. Unfortunately, at this time, nothing else is known about them.

Giacomo and CalogeraVento’s ancestries are unknown, but they lived and raised a family in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. A Sciacca church marriage or marriage contract could not be found for them. What has been found are three St. Michele baptism records for the parents of Jacobo and Calogera Vento as follows — Accursio Vincenzo was baptized on February 28, 1601; Leonarda on March 26, 1606; and Antonino Leonardo on November 19, 1608, whose father’s given name is listed as Giacomo. It should be noted that available St. Michele baptism records begin in 1586. Being that no other baptism records for their children were found before 1606, it may mean they moved here from someplace else.

It is documented that Giacomo and Calogera were both alive when their daughter ancestor Margarita was married on November 25, 1607. It is not known when Giacomo and Calogera died, but they were both alive when their last child was baptized in 1608. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about them.

Giacomo Fazello and his wife Giulia Provenzano’s ancestries are unknown, but they lived for awhile in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. His name is listed as Jacopo, which in Italian is Giacomo, on the records found for him. On April 8, 1535, Sciacca notary Antonino Raccagna filed a notarial marriage contract for them to marry. Unfortunately church marriage records are not available for research this far back.

Only one Sciacca mother church baptism record has been found for the children of Jacopo Fazello — a son named Giovanni, who was baptized as Jo: Franc'o in February of 1536. They probably had other children, but this is the only one found to date. A baptism record for their daughter ancestor Giulia could not be found.

It is not known when Goacomo or Giulia died, but it is documented that he was alive when their daughter ancestor Giulia was first married on October 18, 1574. There are three interesting entries in both volumes of Pellegrino Mortillaro’s book Andrea Randazzo un notaio storico. The first one is for an inventory taken on March 20, 1530, for Giulia Provinzano. If this is ancestor Giulia, she died sometime shortly before this date. The next one is dated January 3, 1536, and is a Division between Giacomo and Antonino Fazello. This is usually a division of an estate, but this entry doesn’t say it’s an estate. Antonino could be a brother, but it is not clear who he is. The last entry is dated September 22, 1575, and is an inventory of the property belonging to Giacomo Fazello. (Mouse over and click on his property inventory entry left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) If this is ancestor Giacomo, he died sometime shortly before this date. Unfortunately, Sciacca burial records do not go back this far, so these entries may or may not be for the ancestors. For now, this is all that’s known about them.

Francesco Migliore and his wife Bartololilla’s ancestries are unknown, but they lived and raised a family in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. A Sciacca marriage contract could not be found for them, but a very brief church marriage record has been found in the Sciacca mother church records. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record image right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) They married there on June 4, 1576. This record doesn’t give much information, but it is clear that she was a widow. Her surname is not listed, just the name of her deceased first spouse, which looks like Dimitrie Pascarno. It is very possible that Francesco could have been a widower, but it isn’t indicated on the marriage record. There are several baptism records for children born to Francesco and Casandra Migliore for the period before Francesco and Bartololilla were married. Unless other documentation for them can be found, this will remain a mystery.

What is documented is that Francesco and Bartololilla had another child after ancestor Bartolomeo, a daughter named Antonella Margarita, who was baptized on December 23, 1579, in the Sciacca mother church parish. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about them.
