Alessandro Aucello was born on December 10, 1639, and baptized the next day as Alexandro Dominicus in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Vita Bivona and her husband Geronimo Aucello. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
On May 19th, 26th and 30th of 1669, church banns were read for Alessandro to marry Geronima Ragusa. She was the daughter of Calogera Giametta and her husband Sebastiano Ragusa. Unfortunately, a Sciacca baptism record could not be found for her. She could have been born about 1647 or she may have been born when her mother died in late 1651. This seems more likely, and could be the reason why her baptism is not in the registers. Twenty-nine year-old Alessandro and the teenaged Geronima were married on June 2, 1669, in the Sciacca St. Vito church. Twenty-five year-old Ettore and 13 year-old Giovanna were married at the mother church in Sciacca on October 15, 1730.(Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
Only four Sciacca baptism records and one burial record has been found for the children of Alexandro and Hieronyma Aucello. Their first child was baptized in the mother church parish and the others in the St. Vito parish as follows —Giuseppe was born on the morning of March 18, 1670, and baptized as Joseph Hieronimus Sebastianus later that same day; Geronimo, named after his paternal grandfather, was born on January 20, 1673, baptized as Hieronymus Sebastianus the next day, and married Anna Caruso on in 1692; ancestor Vita was named after her paternal grandmother; and Calogera Paola Margarita, who was born on January 25, 1678, and baptized the next day. The burial record found was dated October 16, 1673, and was for Vincenzius son of Alexandri Aucello about 4 years old, but he was probably much younger than that. A baptism record for him has not been found.
It is documented the both Alessandro and Geronima were alive on October 5, 1692, when their son Geronimo was married. Alessandro died in his home and was buried in the St. Maria de Monte Carmelo cemetery on January 8, 1719. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial church record lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His mother church burial record is torn, so it is hard to read his age, but he was 79 years old when he died. Geronima lived another 13 years and did not remarry. She died and was buried on January 24, 1732. Unfortunately, only an index record of her burial has been found. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial church record lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)The register does not have a corresponding burial record for her, so for now, this is all that is known about them. |

Geronimo Aucello was baptized on April 3, 1614, in the St. Vito parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Agata Sacchetto and her husband Alessandro Aucello. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
On May 22nd, 25th and June 1st of 1636 church banns were read for Geronimo to marry Vita Bivona. She was baptized as an infant on March 23, 1620, in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Martino Bivona and his wife Margarita, whose surname is unknown. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record upper middle right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) She is also the younger sister of ancestor Salvatore. Twenty-two year old Geronimo and 16 year-old Vita were married in the Sciacca St. Vito church on June 8, 1636. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record image upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
Only three Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Hieronimo and Vita Aucello. The first child was baptized in the St. Vito parish and the last two in the St. Michele parish as follows — Calogero, named after the patron saint of many Sicilian towns, was born and baptized as Calogerus Alexander on July 20, 1637; ancestor Alessandro was named after his paternal grandfather; and Agatha Margarita, who was named after both of her grandmothers, was born and baptized on November 19, 1642, but died unmarried and was buried on July 25, 1668 at age 25.
Sadly, possibly giving birth to another child, Vita died and was buried in the St. Margarita church cemetery on July 28, 1645. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record lower middle right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her every brief St. Michele burial record lists her as, Vita Aucello about 19 years old, but she was actually 25 years old when she died. Geronimo was left with young children, so he married again.
Six months later church banns were read on January 28th and February 2nd and 4th of 1646, for Geronimo to marry Anna Randazzo. On February 11, 1646, 31 year-old Hieronimus, who was listed as a widower and 21 year-old Anna, who was listed as single, were married in the Sciacca St. Michele church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Three St. Michele baptism records have been found for the children of Geronimo and Anna Aucello as follows — Grazia Vita was born on the morning of December 23, 1646, and was baptized that same day; Philippa Antonina was born on the morning of February 9, 1648 and was baptized later that day; and Giuseppe, who was born on February 23, 1650, baptized as Joseph Mario Mathius the next day, and married Caterina Santangelo on September 3, 1673. Nineteen months after her last child was born, Anna died and was buried in the St. Maria di Lillo cemetery on October 7, 1651. Geronimo was once again left with three young children plus three from his first marriage, the oldest being only 14 years old.
About six months later, the now 38 year-old Geronimo married a woman named Pellegrina and they had three children together. The three St. Michele baptism records that have been found for the children of Geronimo and Pellegrina Aucello are as follows — Andrea was born and baptized as Andrea Domincus on November 29, 1652, and in 1680, married Antonina Angelo; Giovanna was born on November 14, 1654, and was baptized as Joanna Antonina the next day; and Domenico, who was born on March 12, 1656, and baptized the next day as Dominicuis Ant’no Gaetanus. A church marriage record or contract could not be found for Geronimo Aucello and Pellegrina, but there is one for Heronymo Bivona relict of the deceased Vita and Pellegrina relict of Heronymo Caruso. (Mouse over and click on the Latin church marriage record lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) This very well may be for ancestor Geronimo as it is dated April 10, 1652, almost 8 months before their first child was born. The priest probably took Vita’s surname as Geronimo’s.
It is not known when Geronimo died, but it is documented that he was deceased by June 2, 1669, the date of ancestor Allessandro's marriage. His third wife Pellegrina lived at least another 10 years, as she is listed as being alive on March 29, 1680, the date their son Andrea was married. For now, this is all that is known about them. |

Sebastiano Ragusa was baptized on November 27, 1619, in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Geronima Friscia and her husband Calogero Ragusa. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
On September 4th, 8th and 11th church banns were read fir Sebastiano to marry Calogera Giametta. She was baptized on September 17, 1622, in the Sciacca St. Vito parish, the daughter of Vita Bruno and her husband Biaggio Giametta. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record middle right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) On day after her 22nd birthday, Calogera and 24 year-old Sebastiano were married on September 18, 1644, in the St. Vito church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
Only three Sciacca St. Vito baptism records were found for the children of Sebastiano and Calogera Ragusa, but on the second record they are listed as Seb’no and Calogera Giaimetta, which is Calogera’s maiden surname. The records found are as follows — Vita Calogera, named after her maternal grandmother, was born on the morning of October 28, 1645, and baptized later that day; another Vita was born on May 19, 1649, and baptized the next day as Vita Blasia Elisabetta, with a middle name of the female version of her maternal grandfather; and Calogero, who was born on the evening of November 30, 1650, and baptized as Calogerius Phous, the next day. A baptism record for ancestor Geronima was not found in the Sciacca records, but she was named after her paternal grandmother. A little more that a year after her last child was born, Calogera died and was buried on December 23, 1651, in the buried in St. Vito cemetery. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record middle left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her St. Vito burial record lists her as Calogera de Ragusa about 30, but she had just turned 29 three months prior to her death. Left with small children, four months later Sebastiano married again.
On April 7th, 2nd and 14th church banns were read for Sebastiano to marry the widow Cunsola Grisafi. A week later, the now 32 year old Sebastiano and Cunsola, were married on April 21, 1652, at the St. Vito church. No Sciacca baptism records for their children have been found, so it is assumed Cunsola, died early in the marriage as 2 ½ years later, Sebastiano married again.
On November 7, 1654, almost 35 year-old Sebastiano married 36 year-old Pietra Causi at the Sciacca St. Vito church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Two Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Sebastiano and Petra Ragusa as follows — Vito was born on September 10, 1655, and baptized as Vitus Dominius the next day in the mother church parish; and Giuseppe, who was baptized as Joseph Aloysio on March 1, 1659, in the St. Vito parish and married Calogera Barnaba in 1683.
It is documented that Sebastiano was alive when his son Giuseppe was married on January 31, 1683. Sebastiano died and was buried in the St. Maria de Monte Carmelo cemetery on February 12, 1670. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record image lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His St. Vito burial record lists him as, Sebastianus Ragusa about 55 years old, but he was only 50 when he died. His third wife Pietra lived another 24 years and was buried in the same cemetery as her husband on August 22, 1694. This is all that is known about Sebastiano and Calogera.

Alessandro Aucello was the son of Giacomo Aucello ands wife Diana, whose surname is unknown. A Sciacca baptism record could not be found for him, but he lived and raised a family in the St. Vito parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy.
On July 22nd, 25th and August 6th of 1606, church banns were read for Alessandro to marry Agata Sacchetto. She was baptized as Gatuza on May 2, 1579, in the Sciacca mother church parish, the daughter of Antonino Sacchetto and his wife Silvestra, whose surname is unknown. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) She is also the younger sister to Caterina, who may be the second wife of ancestor Gaspare Sanfilippo. A day after the second banns were read, on July 26, 1606, Sciacca notary Sebastiano Benfatto filed a notarial marriage contract for Alessandro and 27 year-old Agata. They were married in the St. Vito church on August 7, 1606, a day after the last banns were read. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
Four St. Vito baptism records have been found for the children of Alexandro and Agata Aucello as follows — Giovanni was baptized as Jo Vin’o on April 2, 1608; Pietro as Perto Onofrio on February 26, 1611; ancestor Geronimo; and Onofrio as Honofrio on January 21, 1620, who married Calogera Ardizone in 1640. Also found are two other records for their children. The first is a St. Vito burial record dated April 26, 1616, for Ant’no son of Alessandro Aucello, whose age is not listed. The second is a St. Vito marriage record for Vincenium son of deceased Alexandra and Agat Le Aucello, who married Vita Depolito in 1633. Unfortunately, a Sciacca baptism record could not be found for either of them.

It is documented that Alessandro was deceased by September 19, 1633, when his son Vincenzo was married. Alessandro died and was buried in the St. Vito cemetery on March 12, 1622. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His St. Vito burial record lists him simply as Alexander Aucello forty-nine, which puts his birth to about 1573. Eighteen years later, both Alessandro and Agata are listed as deceased on their son Onofrio’s July 29, 1640, marriage record. Agata died and was buried in the St. Margarita church cemetery on November 17, 1636. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record image lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her St. Vito burial record lists her as Agatha Aucello 60 years old, but she was only 57 when she died. For now this is all that’s known about them.

Calogero Ragusa was baptized as Calogero Aurelio on November 23, 1577, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Pellegrino Ragusa and his wife Antonella, whose surname is unknown. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record image upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) He is also the brother of Pietro who married Calogera Quartararo.
On February 15th, 21st and 25th of 1604, church banns were ready for Calogero to marry Hieronima Friscia. During this time, on the 23rd, Sciacca notary Antonio Buscemi filed a notarial marriage contract for Geronima Frixa and Calogero Ragusa. (Mouse over and click on their marriage contract entry lower right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Geronima Friscia was the daughter of Antonella Venezia and her husband Giuseppe Friscia. A baptism record for Geronima has not been found, but she probably was born and baptized about 1586 in the St. Vito parish of Sciacca. Unfortunately St. Vito baptism records are not available for research before 1688. A few days after the last banns were read, 26 year-old Calogero and the younger Geronima were married on February 28, 1604, in the Sciacca St. Vito church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Almost two years after their marriage, on January 9, 1606, Calogero shared the inheritance of his father’s estate with his brother Antonino.
Fifteen St. Michele baptism records have been found for the children of Calogero and Geronima di Ragusa as follows — Francesco was baptized on June 16, 1605; Nicolò was baptized on October 17, 1606, as Nicolao Pelligrino, with a middle name after his paternal grandfather, and died at 2 years old on November 28, 1608; Maria Antonia, was baptized on March 9, 1609, with a middle name after both of her grandmothers, and married Silvestri Cozzo on September 15, 1625; Dorothea was baptized on September 30, 1610, and died at 4 months old on February 22, 1611; Maria Caterina was baptized on November 23, 1611, and died unmarried at 17 years old on September 2, 1629; another Dorothea was baptized on September 5, 1613, and died at 8 years old on September 16, 1621; Carlo was baptized as Carloi Giuseppe on November 18, 1614; Giuseppe, named after his maternal grandfather, was baptized as Joseppi Nicolao on July 23, 1616; Leonardo Carlo on September 5, 1618; ancestor Sebastiano; Giovanna was born and baptized as Joanna on September 25, 1621; Antonio was born and baptized on January 8, 1623; another Dorothea was born and baptized on July 3, 1624, and died 3 months later on October 15, 1624; Antonino was born on the evening of June 19, 1626, baptized as Antoninius Antonius the next day, and died at 4 months old on October 29, 1626; and Pietro was born on December 2, 1627, and was baptized the next day as Petri Fran’co.
It is not known when Calogero and Geronima died, but it is documented that he was deceased and she was alive on September 18, 1644, when their son ancestor Sebastiano was married. For now this is all that is known about them. |

Biaggio Giametta was baptized as Matteo Blasi on February 24, 1569, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Adamo Giametta and his wife Giovanna Brigida Indelicato.(Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
Thirty-seven year-old Biaggio married 30 year-old Sebastiana Maniscalco on January 8, 1607, in the Sciacca mother church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) They had at least one child together, Apollonia Francesca, who was baptized on May 27, 1610, and died just 2 days later on May 29, 1610. There is another burial record for Maria daughter of Master Blasi Giametta, who was buried in the mother church cemetery on May 26, 1609. She could be their first daughter, but a baptism record could not be found for Maria. Four days after Apollonina died, her mother Sebastiana died and was buried in the mother church cemetery on June 2, 1610.
The next record found for Biaggio Giametta is an undated notarial marriage contract between him and Vita Bruno. This undated contract was found in the 1617-18 papers, but that doesn’t mean it was filed during that year. A church marriage record could not be found for them. Some researchers say she is the daughter of Pietra Musca and her husband Giuseppe Bruno, and site she was baptized in the St. Vito parish on January 19, 1602. Unfortunately, this baptism record lists her father as Minico, which is short for Domenico and her mother as Perna. (Mouse over and click on her possible Latin baptism record middle right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) To complicate matters even more, if this baptism is for ancestor Vita, she would have been 12 years old when her first child was born, making her 11 when she married-very unlikely, but not impossible! Being that the only data that is documented is that the ancestors were name Blasi and Vita Giametta, her ancestry ends here.
Six St. Vito baptism records have been found for the children of Master Blasi and Vita Giametta, which is sometimes listed as Jaymetta, as follows —Giuseppe, possibly named after his maternal grandfather, was baptized as Joseppi Fran’co on February 7, 1614; Vincenza Giovanna, given the middle name of her paternal grandmother, was baptized as Vin’ca Ja on March 17, 1615, and on February 14, 1638, married Paolo Montalbano; another Giuseppe was baptized as Joseppi Jo on May 23, 1616, but died 5 months later on October 27, 1616; Giovanni Filippo was baptized as Jo Pho on January 26, 1620; ancestor Calogera; and Caterina was born on October 8, 1624, and baptized as Cat’na the next day, with her parents listed as Master Blasi d’Adami and Vita Gaimetta. This is documentation that Biaggo’s father was indeed Adamo.
It is documented that both Biaggio and Vita were alive on September 18, 1644, when their daughter ancestor Calogera was married. Vita died and was buried on June 23, 1647, in the St. Dominici cemetery. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her St. Vito burial record lists her as, Vita wife of Masteri Blasi Giametta, about 50 years old, which puts her birth to about 1597, and is much more plausible than her possible baptism record discussed above. A little less then four years later, Biaggio died and was buried in the same cemetery as his wife, on February 1, 1651. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His St. Vito burial record lists him as Master Blasius Giametta with an age that could be 81, his actual age, but it is hard to read. At this time, nothing else is known about them.

Giacomo Aucello and his wife Diana’s ancestries are unknown, but they lived and raised a family in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. A church marriage record or contract could not be found for them, but two baptism records have been found for their children. The mother church baptism records found for the children of Jac’o and Diana di Aucello are as follows — Francesco was baptized on December 3, 1582, and married Francesca Bivona on November 15, 1604; and Caterina who was baptized on May 6, 1587. Unfortunately, a baptism record for ancestor Alessandro has not been found, so they may have moved to Sciacca from another town.
It is documented that both Giacomo and Diana were alive on August 7, 1606, when ancestor Alessandro was married. Diana died at home on the morning of January 6, 1620, and was buried in the St. Dominici cemetery that same day. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her St. Vito burial record lists her as Diana Aucello sixty-years-old, which puts her birth to about 1580, but burial record ages are usually just an estimate. Unfortunately a burial record for Giacomo has not been found, so this is all that is known about them. |

Antonino Sacchetto and his wife Silvestra’s ancestries are unknown, but they lived and raised a family in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. A Sciacca marriage record or contract could not be found for them. What has been found are seven Sciacca mother church baptism records for the children of Antonino Sacchetto, but only the last four list the mother as Silvestra. The records found are as follows — Nicolò was baptized as Nicolas Blasi on September 3, 1564; Caterina was baptized on January 2, 1569, and married ancestor Gaspare Sanfilippo as his second wife; Benedetta was baptized on June 9, 1571; Vito Rocco was baptized on September 12, 1576, and married Aleonora Parnisi on April 14, 1608; ancestor Agata; Filippo was baptized as Pho on October 10, 1581, and was contracted to marry Grazia Modica on August 23, 1602; and Paolo who was baptized as Petro Paulo on March 25, 1584, and married Maria Alba on January 7, 1610.
It is not known when Antonino died, but they both were listed as alive on their daughter Caterina’s June 24 1596, marriage record. On their daughter ancestor Agata’s marriage record dated August 7, 1606, Antonino is listed as deceased, while Silvestra is listed as living. So, Antonino died sometime between the two dates, but burial records don’t begin until September of 1606. Silvestra lived many more years. She died and was buried in the St. Dominici church cemetery on October 9, 1614. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her extremely brief St. Vito Burial record just lists her name and where she was buried. For now, this is all that is known about them.

Pellegrino Ragusa and his wife Antonella’s ancestries are unknown, but they lived and raised a family in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. A Sciacca marriage record or contract could not be found for them, but they married sometime prior to 1548. What has been found are 14 Sciacca mother church baptism records for the children of Pellegrino di Ragusa as follows — Leonora was baptized on July 10, 1548; Pietro Antonino on February 9, 1550, but he probably died young; Filippo was baptized as Pho on February 15, 1552; Giovanni was baptized as Jo: Vinzo on May 7, 1553; Giacomo as Jacopo Cola on July 20, 1554; Angelica Lauria was baptized on May 31, 1557; another Giovanni as Jon Matteo on February 26, 1559; Vito was baptized as Vito Jacobo on February 3, 1561; Calogera on June 20, 1563; ancestor Pietro in 1565; ancestor Calogero in 1577; Accursio was baptized as Curso Antonino on October 22, 1579; a third Giovanni was baptized on February 27, 1581; and Antonino Angelo, who was baptized on May 5, 1582, and on November 24, 1624, married Maria Catazarro. The almost 13 year gap between ancestors Pietro and Calogero might mean that Pellegrino had a first and second marriage. It is documented that ancestor Calogero’s mother’s name was Antonella, but only the last 3 children have a mother listed as Antonella. All the others have no mother listed. To support the theory of two wives, there is a Testamento, a will entry in Pellegrino Mortillaro’s book, Andrea Randazzo un notaio storico Volume Secondo, for an Antonina Ragusa dated July 14, 1575. This very well could be Pellegrino’s first wife. Unfortunately, burial records are not available for this time period.
It is not known when Antonella died, but it is documented that Pellegrino was deceased by February 28, 1604, the date ancestor Calogero was married. Pellegrino’s will was filed by Sciacca notary Vincenzo Giuffrida on August 21, 1590. Less than two weeks later on September 3, 1590, an inventory of his estate was taken and filed by the same notary. This means he died sometime within that 13 day span. There is also an entry in volume one of the above mentioned book for the Division between Calogero and Antonino Ragusa Heirs of Pellegrino, which is dated January 9, 1606. (Mouse over and click on his estate entry right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) This may mean that Antonella just died and the estate now was going to the two surviving sons. Again, burial records are not available for this time period, as they begin in September of 1606. Unfortunately, much of this is speculation, and will remain a mystery.

Giuseppe Friscia was the son of Pietro Friscia and his wife Angela, whose surname is unknown. He was probably born about 1545 in the St. Vito parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, but a baptism record could not be found for him, as St, Vito baptism records begin in 1588. He is also the other brother of ancestors Natale, Vita and Filippo Friscia.
On October 9, 1577, 32 year-old Giuseppe married the 27 year-old widow Antonella Venezia at the Sciacca mother church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) She was baptized on October 4, 1550, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Vito Venezia and his wife, who was most likely Marghertita Imburli. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record middle right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) At 24 years old, Antonella was previously contracted to marry Tomaso Galluzzo on February 14, 1575, and they were married a month later in the Sciacca mother church on April 16, 1575. (Mouse over and click on her Latin church first marriage record middle right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) No children were found for them, so apparently Tomaso died shortly after the marriage. Four months after her marriage to Giuseppe, a marriage contract for them was filed by Sciacca notary Martino Russo on February 3, 1578. This was probably done on the realization that she was pregnant.
Six Sciacca baptism records have bee found for the children of Master Giuseppi and Ant’lla di Frixa, the first four in the mother church parish and the last two in the St. Vito parish as follows — Caterina Margarita was baptized on July 19, 1578; Catinella on October 14, 1580; Leonardo was baptized as Gregorio Nardo, and on November 25, 1603, was contracted to marry Filippa Failla, the daughter of ancestors Bartolo Failla and Giovanna Dayna; Vita was baptized December 10, 1584; Pietro, named after his paternal grandfather, was baptized on April 18, 1589, the first in the St. Vito parish, and on April 8, 1623, married Constantina Mineo, the daughter of ancestors Leonarda Dardaro and Antonino Mineo; and their last child was Giovanni who was baptized as Jo: Perto on September 6, 1590.
It is not known exactly when Giuseppe died, but he wrote his will (Testamento) which was filed by Sciacca notary Giovanni Vella on January 7, 1603. (Mouse over and click on his will entry lower left to enlarge in a new window or tab.) It is documented that he was deceased when his daughter ancestor Geronima was married on February 28, 1604. This means he died sometime in the little more than a year span between these two dates. Unfortunately, burial records begin in 1606. Sometime after her husband’s death, Antonella became a tertiary nun of St. Domenico with the name of Fede. She died and was buried in the St. Dominici cemetery on October 20, 1621. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her St. Vito burial record lists her as sister Fides di Friscia sixty years old, but she was actually 71 when she died. For now, this is all that’s known about them.

Adamo Giametta ancestry is unknown, but he lived and raised a family in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. On some records his surname is spelled Jaimetta.
On March 23, 1567, Sciacca notary Stefano Caruso filed a notarial marriage contract for Adamo and Jonnella Indelicato. She was baptized as Joannella Brigida on June 25, 1550, in the Sciacca mother church parish, the daughter of Geronimo Indelicato and his wife Caterina Bonsignore. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) On the records, she is sometimes called Joanna or Giovanna which is the Italian name for Jonnella.
Ten Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Adamo and Joannella Giametta. The first nine in the mother church parish and the last two in the St. Vito parish as follows — ancestor Biaggio; Vincenzo Giovanni was baptized as Vin’zo Jo: on August 2, 1571; Margarita Giovanna as Margarita Joa: on October 1, 1572; Giuseppe as Joseppi on January 22, 1575; Catinella Biaggia as Catinella Blasa on December 4, 1577; Caterina on March 9, 1580; Geronimo Michele, named after his maternal grandfather, on March 4, 1581; Salvaturi on August 6, 1583, the last to be baptized in the mother church parish; Filippo on May 29, 1588, the first to be baptized in the St. Vito parish, married Giovanna Galioto in 1614; and lastly Vito, who was baptized on June 20, 1590, and married Margarita Piparo on January 23, 1617. They probably had at least one other child in the 5 year gap between the mother church and St. Vito baptisms, as St. Vito records begin in 1588.
It is most likely that Jonnella died sometime after her last child was born and prior to or in 1592, as three St. Vito baptism records exist for the children of Adamo and Francesca Giametta. There is no documentation of Jonnella’s burial or Adamo’s second marriage, but his name is rare enough to suggest that this is the same man. The three St. Vito baptism records found are as follows —Vincenzo Fiderico on July 18, 1593; Maria Desideria on September 26, 1594; and Giacomo, who was baptized as Jacobo Sanctus on November 1, 1596.
It is not known when Adamo died, but it is documented that he was deceased by April 7, 1614, the date his son Filippo was married. There is a Testamento (will) entry for his name in Pellegrino Mortillaro’s book, Andrea Randazzo un notaio storico Volume Secondo, which was recorded by Sciacca notary Vincenzo Palermo, and is dated August 8, 1599. Adamo probably died shortly after his will was recorded. For now, this is all that is known about him |

Vito Venezia was the son of Giovanni Venzia and his unknown wife. It is not known where or when he was born, but he lived and raised a family in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. On ancestor Antonella’s baptism record it states her father as Vito son of Jo:. When stated like this, it usually means there were others by the same name.
On September 6, 1542, a contract for Vito to marry Margarita Imburli was filed by Sciacca notary Bartolomeo Modica. She is assumed to be ancestor Antonella’s mother, because Antonella named a daughter Caterina Margarita. Unfortunately, church marriage records don’t go back this far, so no other information on them can be documented. As noted above, there were two other Vito Venezia’s also having children, at the same time that Vito and Margarita were having them. Being that mothers names were not listed on these baptism records, it is impossible to know which child belonged to which parents. But there are two records that list the father as Vito di Jo:, meaning Vito son of Giovanni. These two records are for Paulo Cola, who was baptized on July 20, 1544, and ancestor Antonella.
It is not known when Vito and Margarita died, but it is documented that Vito was deceased by April 16, 1575, the date ancestor Antonella was first married. Unfortunately, there are no documents to confirm any of this. All that is confirmed is Antonella’s father was named Vito and her grandfather was Giovanni. |

Geronimo Indelicato's ancestry is unknown, but he lived and raised a family in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. On May 10, 1547, Sciacca notary Bartolomeo Modica filed a notarial marriage contract for Geronimo and Caterina Bonsignore. There are two mother church baptism records that could be for her. The first is in February of 1529, the daughter of Angelo, and the second is in January of 1630, the daughter of Master Jo: Bonsignore.(Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism index record left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Because she named a daughter Jonnella, which is Giovanna in Italian and Jo: is short for Giovanni, she is most likely the daughter of Giovanni Bonsignore, and was born in 1630. This would make her about 17 years old when the marriage contract was issued.
Seven Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Geronimo lo Indelicato, and only the last one lists the mother as Catenella. On some of these records Geronimo’s name is listed as Hieronimo, Hyeronimo and Jermo. The seven records are as follows — ancestor Jonnella, probably named after her maternal grandfather; Margarita on July 19, 1556; Giuseppi was baptized as Joseph Vinc’zo on July 6, 1560; Francisco on July 22, 1562; Filippa was baptized as Philippella on March 5, 1566; Vito Francesco on July 31, 1568; and Leonarda who was baptized as Narda Diana on March 31, 1574. There is one more baptism record dated April 25, 1583, that may be for this family. It is for Margarita, the daughter of Geronimo and Lauria lo Indelicato. Their are three possibilities for this record — it could be for ancestor Geronimo and a second wife; an error in recording the mothers name; or an entirely different couple. To complicate matters more, there is a notarial marriage contract for Geronimo Indelicato and Onofria Bacchi dated September 24, 1578, that could be for ancestor Geronimo and a second wife, who may be the Lauria referenced above. Without additional records to confirm the above information, this is just speculation.
It is not known when and where Geronimo and Caterina died, but in Pellegrino Mortillaro’s book, Andrea Randazzo un notaio storico Volume Secondo, there are three Testamento (will) entries for Geronimo Indelicato. The first two were filed by Sciacca notary Giovanni Vella and are dated November 9, 1575, and September 2, 1580. The third is dated June 13, 1601, and was filed by Sciacca notary Sigismndo Mandracchia. It seems more likely that one or both of the first two are for ancestor Geronimo, but there are no other records to confirm this. Until more documentation can be found, this is all that is known about them.
