Calogero Imbornone was born on the evening of December 25, 1665, and baptized as Stephanus Francisus Calogerus the next day, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the eldest son of Elisabetta diMino and her husband Giuseppe Imbornone. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) The Imbornone surname has been spelled many different ways on records including Inbornone, Imburnone and Imbonuni.
On March 27th, 28th and April 2nd of 1690, church banns were read for Calogero to marry Angela Chiarello. She was born on the even of September 29, 1673, and baptized as Angela Caterina in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Vita Bivona and her husband Calogero Chiarello. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record middle right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) A week later on April 9, 1690, 24 year-old Calogero married 16 year-old Angela at the St. Michele church in Sciacca. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
Ten Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Calogero and Angela Imbornone as follows — Giuseppe, named after his paternal grandfather was born and baptized as Joseph Antonius Cosmos on the evening of March 24, 1691, and died at 11 months old on February 27, 1692; another Giuseppe was born on June 3, 1693, and baptized as Joseph Ignatius Vincentius the next day; Vincenzo was born on the evening of October 2, 1694, baptized as Vincentius Michael Rosarius the next day, and married Anna Fauci on November 24, 1726; Calogera Rosaria Anna was born on October 6, 1697, and baptized the next day with the female version of he maternal grandfather’s name; Francisco was born and baptized as Baltassar Francescus Leonardus on the evening of January 10, 1701, and as Francesco, he married Blasa Bentivegna in 1728; ancestor Giovanni; Elisabeth, named after her paternal grandmother, was born and baptized as Alberta Petra on December 23, 1707, but died less than a month before her 2nd birthday and was buried as Elisabeth on November 28, 1709; Gaspare was born on May 23, 1710, and baptized as Gaspar Xaverius Jo: the next day and died at 2 months old on August 17, 1710; Antonino was born on June 14, 1711, and baptized as Antoninius Paulus Vitus the next day; and Aurelio, who was born and baptized as Aurelius Paulus Simon on July 9, 1715, and married Agata Scaturro on April 30, 1753.
It is documented that both Calogero and Angela were alive when their son Francisco was married on September 12, 1728, but they both were deceased when their son ancestor Giovanni was married on April 9, 1736. Angela died at home and was buried in the Convent of St. Francisco cemetery outside the city on January 7, 1729. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her mother church burial record lists her as Angela wife of Calogeri Imbornoni, 53 years old, but she was actually 55 years old when she died. Calogero lived more than four years after his wife’s death. He died at home and was buried in the same cemetery as his wife on November 27, 1733. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as Calogerus Imbornone about 70 years old, but he was only 67 when he died. For now, this is all that is known about them.

Giuseppe Imbornone was born and baptized as Joseph Ignazius Jacobo on July 24, 1631, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Giacoma Marotta and her husband Calogero Imbornone. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) He is also the older brother to Maria who married Dominico Mandracchia. He was 6 ½ years old when his mother died and was probably raised by his step mother, Calogera Giambruno.
On January 1, 1665, Sciacca notary Calogero Liotta filed a notarial marriage contract for Giuseppe and Elisabetta diMino. She was born on the evening of September 29, 1641, and baptized the next day as Elisabet Hyeronima in the mother church parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Maria Causi and her husband Giovanni diMino. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) A few days after the contract was filed church banns were read on January 4th, 6th and 11th for them to marry. The next day, January 12, 1665, thirty-three year-old Joseph married 23 year-old Elisabeth at the Sciacca mother church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
Ten Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Joseph and Elisabeth Imbornoni as follows — ancestor Calogero was named after his paternal grandfather; Giovanni, named after his maternal grandfather was born on the evening of September 12, 1667, and baptized as Jonnius Vitus Domincus the next day; Leonardo was born on November 22, 1668, and baptized as Leonardus Vincentius Honorphius the next day; Domenico was born and baptized as Dominius Paulius Michael on April 8, 1672; Calogera was born on the evening of January 27, 1674, and baptized as Calogera Jacoba Paula the next day; Francisco was born on February 26, 1676, and baptized as Franiscus Domincus Antonius the next day; Maria Vincenza Liboria was born and baptized on May 2, 1679, and on April 28, 1697, married Gaspare Chiarello, the son of ancestor Calogero listed below; Antonino was born on the evening of January 23, 1681, and baptized as Antonius Francicus Vincenius the next day; Anna Liboria Antonina was born and baptized on February 18, 1682, and married Antonino Friscia on November 27, 1708; and and their last child, Giovanni, was born and baptized as Joannes Antoninus Nicolaus on December 9, 1684.
It is documented that Giuseppe was deceased and Elisabetta was alive when their son ancestor Calogero was married on April 9, 1690. It is also documented that Elisabetta was still alive eighteen years later when her daughter Anna was married in 1708. Burial records for both of them have not been found yet, but in Giuseppe’s case, it should be noted that Sciacca burial records are not available for research after 1674 up to September of 1690. So, for now, this is all that is known about them. |

Calogero Chiarello was born on December 7, 1645, and baptized as Leonardo Calogero Accursio the next day in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Crispina Failla and her husband Francesco Chiarello. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
A Sciacca church marriage record has been found for Calogero, but for some unexplained reason the register record has been crossed out. Usually when a record is crossed out it means it was recorded in the wrong place, not that the marriage didn’t occur. Unfortunately, another record for this marriage has not been found in any of the available Sciacca church marriage records. On this crossed out record is states church banns were read on December 26th, 27th and 28th of 1672, for Calogero to marry Vita Bivona. She was born and baptized as Francesca Vita on August 14, 1647, in the St. Vito parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Salvatore Bivona and his wife Maria, whose surname is unknown. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record middle right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Twenty-seven year-old Calogero and 25 year-old Vita, were married at the Sciacca St. Michele church on January 8, 1673. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
Six Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Calogero and Vita Chiarello. The second and last child were baptized in the mother church parish and the others in the St. Michele parish, as follows — ancestor Angela; Gaspare was born on July 26, 1675, baptized as Gaspar Joannes the next day, and married Maria Imbornone the daughter of ancestor Giuseppe listed above; Andrea Melchiore was born on the morning of November 30, 1677, and baptized later that day; Maria Catherina was born and baptized on December 1, 1679, but probably died young; Maria Antonia was born on September 19, 1681, baptized the next day and in 1703 married Giuseppe, the son of ancestors Michele Interrante and his wife Giovanna Indelicato; and Domenico, who was born and baptized as Dom’cus Ignazius Salvatore on the evening of February 12, 1684.
It isdocumented that both Calogero and Vita were alive on September 30, 1703, when their daughter Maria Antonia was married. Vita died and was buried in the Convent of Santa Maria di Monte Carmelo cemetery on December 2, 1709. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her mother church burial record lists her as Vita wife of Calogeri Chiarello about 60 years old, but she was actually 62 years old when she died. Almost four years later, Calogero died in his home and was buried in the St. Maria di Lillo convent cemetery on September 19, 1713. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as Calogerus Chiarello alias Lesca Logna age about 70 years, but he was aurally only 67 years old when he died. For now, this is all that is known about them.

Giovanni diMino was baptized as Joan Btta on June 24, 1597, in the St. Vito parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Elisabetta Mineo and her husband Giuseppe diMino. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) He is also the older sister to Isabella who married Paolo Ficara.

She was baptized on January 5, 1610, in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Giacoma Verdiramo and her husband Vincenzo Causi. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record middle right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) She is also the older sister to ancestor Calogera who married Francesco Sutera. On November 11th, the same day that the contract was filed, the 15th and 22nd of that same year, church marriage banns were read for them. Four days later, on November 26, 1626, twenty-nine year-old Giovanni married 16 year-old Maria in the Sciacca St. Michele church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) They are the parents of two female ancestors.
Nine Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Joanne and Maria de Mino. One record lists the surname with the alias Cirri and another one lists the surname solely as Cirri. The nine records are as follows — Calogero was born and baptized on December 28, 1627, as Calogerus Joseph, the middle name after his paternal grandfather; Vincenzo Lucas, named after his maternal grandfather, was born and baptized on May 27, 1629; Leonardo was born and baptized as Leonardus Caligerus on October 13, 1630; Calogera Vita was born and baptized with the surname Cirri on September 6, 1632, and in 1650, married Carlo Morano; ancestor Vita was born and baptized as Vita Pha on August 27, 1634, and in 1652, married ancestor Vincenzo Marotta, the son of ancestors Calogera Francaviglia and Calogero Marotta; Francesco was born and baptized as Francisus Christofalus on April 28, 1636; Domenico was born on October 24, 1639, and baptized as Domincus Ant’nus Crispinus the next day, with an alias on his deMino surname of Cirri; ancestor Elizabeth was named after her paternal grandmother; and Cecilia Anna, who was born and baptized on November 22, 1646.
It is documented that both Giovanni and Maria were alive when their daughter ancestor Elisabetta was married on January 12, 1665. Govanni died in his home, and was buried in the St. Dominico cemetery on May 16, 1668. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as Joannes de Mino about 73 years old, but he was actually only 70 years old when he died. It is not known if Maria married again or when she died, so for now, this is all that is known about them.

Francesco Chiarello was baptized on February 22, 1606, in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Angela Bentivegna and her husband Calogero Chiarello. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) He is also the older brother to ancestor Filippa Chiarello. On some of his records his surname is listed with and alias of Sciarranca.
On July 24, 1638, Sciacca notary Antonino Amico filed a notarial marriage contract for Francesco to marry Crispina Failla. (Mouse over and click on their marriage contract entry upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) She was born on the evening of April 17, 1621, and baptized the next day, also in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Vincenza Bosco and her husband Vincenzo Failla. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record middle right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) A week after the contract was filed, church banns were read for their marriage on August 1st, 8th and 10th. Five days later, 32 ½ year-old Francesco married 17 year-old Spina on August 15, 1638, in the St. Vito church in Sciacca. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record middle left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
Only two St. Michele baptisms records have been found for the children of Francesco and Crispina Chiarello as follows — Angela Joanna, named after her paternal grandmother was born and baptized on September 12, 1642; and ancestor Calogero, who was named after his paternal grandfather. No other children were found for them in the three available for research church records.
There is an entry in Pellegrino Mortillaro’s book, Andrea Randazzo un notaio storico Volume Secondo, dated October 1, 1639, that roughly translated to Release of a property in S. Calogero by Francesco Chiarello to Antonia Campo. It is not certain that this is ancestor Francesco, but if it is, it means that more than a year after Francesco married Crispina, he gave up leasing land in S. Calogero. Wikipedia says San Calogero is a . . . vast area behind the settlement of Sciacca, which culminates in Monte Kronio, which is a hill about 7 km from Sciacca (less than 4.5 miles).
It is documented that Francesco was deceased and Crispina was still alive on January 8, 1673. Francesco gave his Testamento (will) to Sciacca notary Giuseppe Lauro on October 18, 1656. (Mouse over and click on his will entry lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) The next day, he died and was buried in the St. Francesco de Paola church cemetery on October 19, 1656. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as Fran’cus Chiarello alias Sciarranca about 50 years old, which was his correct age. More than a month later, on November 25, 1656, an inventory of his estate was recorded by the same notary who filed his will. It is not known if Crispina married again or when she died, so for now, this is all that is known about them.

Salvatore Bivona was baptized as Salvatuis Vito on September 16, 1611, in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Martino Bivona and his wife Margarita, whose surname is unknown. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record right to enlarge in a new window or tab.) Salvatore is also the older brother to ancestor Vita who married Geronimo Aucello.
Sometime in or before 1637, Salvatore married a woman named Maria. A Sciacca church marriage or contract could not be found for them, but they lived and raised a family in the St. Vito parish of Sciacca. Six St. Vito baptism records have been found for the children of Salvatore and Maria de Bivona as follows — Angela Leonarda was born on the morning of September 19, 1637, and baptized later that same day; Filippo was born on the morning of October 22, 1638, and baptized as Philippus Antoninus that same day; Margarita Sebastiana was born and baptized on January 20, 1642, and married Michele Termine in 1660; Agatha Beatrix was born on the evening of April 10, 1644, and baptized the next day; ancestor Vita; and Anna, who was born and baptized on March 31, 1650, with a middle name that is hard to read, but looks like Letitia. It is not known when Salvatore and Maria died, but it is documented that he was deceased and she was alive when their daughter Margarita was married on January 9, 1660. It is also not known if Maria remarried, but she was still alive on January 8, 1673, when their daughter ancestor Vita was married. For now, this is all that is known about them. |

Vincenzo Failla was baptized as Francesco Vincenzo on April 20, 1593, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Giovanna Dayna and her husband Bartolo Failla. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) He is also the brother of ancestor Antoninto who married Filippa Chiarello.
On February 8th, 15th and 27th of 1615 church banns were read for Vincenzo to marry Vincenza Bosco. She was baptized as Vincenza Brigida on November 10, 1596, in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Ambrosio Bosco and his wife Pietra, whose surname is unknown. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record middle right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Vincenza is also the sister to Angela Bosco. Twenty-one year-old Vincenzo married 18 year-old Vincenza on March 1, 1615, at the Sciacca St. Michele church. (Mouse over and click on thier Latin church marriage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Twenty-one months later, to the day, on December 1, 1616, Sciacca notary Vincenzo Gallo filed what was probably a dowry restitution contract between Vincenzo Faylla and Vincenza Bosio. (Mouse over and click on their marriage contract entry middle left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.)
Eleven Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Vincenzio and Vincenza Faylla. Their first and third child were baptized in the St Michele parish, their second child in the mother church parish and the rest in the St. Vito parish as follows —Antonino Carlo was baptized on December 27, 1615; Giovanna, named after her paternal grandmother, on May 23, 1618, but probably died young; ancestor Crispina; another Giovanna was born and baptized on October 6, 1623, the first in the St. Vito parish; Onofrio was born and baptized as Honoraria Petrus on June 29, 1625; Petra, named after her maternal grandmother, was born on July 11, 1628, and baptized the next day; Francesco Vito was born on the evening of September 15, 1629, and baptized the next day; Giuseppe was born on the evening of July 5, 1632, baptized as Joseph Antoninus the next day and married Nunzia Aponzo in 1666; Margarita Philippa was born and baptized on July 5, 1635; Paolo was born on October 16, 1638, and baptized as Paulus Dominicus the next day; and Domenico, who was born on the evening of December 18, 1641, baptized as Dominicus Antoninus the next day and married Lucia Tripoli on January 24, 1667.
It is documented that Vincenzo and Vincenza were both deceased on December 6, 1666, when their son Giuseppe was married. Vincenza died and was buried in the mother church cemetery on November 21, 1657. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her mother church burial record lists her as Vincenzia wife of Vincenti Failla about 60 years old, but she had just turned 61 when she died. Her husband Vincenzo lived a bit longer. He died and was buried in the St. Francesco di Paola churchcemetery on March 30, 1663. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His St. Vito burial record lists him as Vincentius Failla about 75 years old, but he was actually 69 years old when he died. For now, this is all that is known about them.

Martino Bivona ancestry is unknown, but he lived a raised a family in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. His surname is sometimes listed as Vivona on records. From the age listed on his burial record, it is estimated that he was born about 1567.
There is a notarial marriage contract dated January 13, 1591, filed by Sciacca notary Vincenzo Gresta for Martino Vivona and Vita Quartararo that is probably for this ancestor. (Mouse over and click on their marriage contract entry upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His surname is sometimes listed as Vivona on records. It is believed that she is the daughter of ancestors Antonella Geremia and Bartolo Quartararo and sister to ancestor Vincenzo. Unfortunately, a Sciacca marriage record couldn’t be found for Martino and Vita, so this can not be confirmed. Only four Sciacca St. Michele baptism records for the children of Martino and Vita di Bivona were found as follows — Nunzia Catinella was baptized on October 26, 1591, and married Calogero Barsalona in 1625; Michel on September 29, 1593; Caloiaro on May 29, 1595; and Nunzio Andria on April 27, 1597. It is not certain that this Martino is the ancestor, but being that his name is somewhat unique, their is a very good chance he is the ancestor.
Sometime in or before 1604, Martino married a woman named Margarita. Her ancestry is unknown, as a Sciacca marriage record could not be found for them, but they lived a raised a family in the St. Michele parish of Sciacca. They are the parents of two ancestors. Six Sciacca St. Michele baptism records have been found for the children of Martino and Margarita de Bivona as follows — Salvatore was baptized as Salvatori Berto on August 4, 1604, but probably died young; Antonina on October 3, 1608; ancestor Salvatore; Leonardo on January 12, 1615; Antonino Carlo on January 29, 1616; and ancestor Vita on March 23, 1620.
There are three mentions of Martino Bivona in Pellegrino Mortillaro’s book, Andrea Randazzo un notaio storico Volume Secondo, pertaining to the sale of land. The first is dated January 8, 1593, where Martino is selling a place in Surriano to Paulo Tauro. The second entry is dated June 6, 1623, where Martino is buying a place in Rachana from Vito Mazzotta. The third mention is a Restitution of a Place in Rachana by D. Vincenzo Ippolito to Martino Bivona.
It is documented that Martino was alive when his daughter Nunzia was married on September 23, 1625, and was deceased when his daughter ancestor Vita was married on June 8, 1636. Martino died outside of his home and was buried in the St. Michele cemetery on May 7, 1627. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His St. Michele burial record lists him as Martinus Bivona alias Nigro 60 years old, which probably is just an estimate. It is not known if Margarita married again, but a St. Michele burial record has been found for Margarita Bivona about 60, that could be for this ancestor. (Mouse over and click on her possible Latin burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) She was buried in the St. Vito cemetery on October 22, 1646. This would calculate her birth to about 1586, which is plausible. Unfortunately it doesn’t state her husband’s name, so for now, this is all that is known about them.

Ambrosio Bosco was baptized on March 23, 1561, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Francesco Bosco and his unnamed wife. (Mouse over and click on his Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) On some records, his surname is spelled Vosco.
Because his name is somewhat unique, it is assumed he is the Ambroso lo Bosco who had a child with Antonina Partannisa. Their son Mario Giovanni was baptized on February 2, 1587, in the Sciacca mother church parish, but is listed only as naturale, not legittimo, which implies the parents were not married. Also, her surname is listed on this baptism record, which supports the fact that they were not married. Neither is there a Sciacca church marriage record or marriage contract entry found for them. Unfortunately, no other records have been found to confirm this Ambroso is the ancestor, but it is most likely this is him.
Sometime in or before 1591, Ambrosio married a woman named Pietra, and they are the parents of two female ancestors. Pietro’s ancestry is unknown as a Sciacca church marriage record or marriage contract entry could not be found for them. What has been found are eight Sciacca St. Michele baptism records for Ambrosio and Petra Bosco as follows — Antonina, who is assumed to be ancestor Angela, and whose parents are listed as Ambroxo and Petruza lo Vosco; ancestor Vincenza; Nicolò Francesco on December 6, 1599; Giulia Antonina on March 15, 1602; Calogera on June 27, 1604; Mario Michele on March 2, 1607; Maria on April 25, 1610; and Marco Paolo on January 24, 1614.
It is documented that both Ambrosio and Pietra were alive on March 1, 1615, when their daughter ancestor Vincenza was married. Ambrosio died just five months later and was buried in the Sciacca St. Augustine cemetery on August 26, 1615. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record left to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) His very brief St. Michele burial record simply lists his name and where he was buried. Pietra lived another 29 years and did not remarry. She died and was buried in the St. Domenico church cemetery on November 21, 1644. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window or tab.) Her St. Vito burial record lists her as Petrunila Bosco age 75, which puts her birth about 1569. For now, this is all that is known about them.

Francesco Bosco’s ancestry is unknown, but he lived and raised a family in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. The only documents found for his name are six mother church baptism records, but none list a mother’s name. The baptisms are as follows — Gesuza on September 18, 1550; Angela Grazia on January 17, 1554; Giovanni as Jo: Cola on March 31, 1557; Onofria as Nofria on January 4, 1560; ancestor Ambrosio; and Norella Pitruza, who was baptized on April 22, 1566.
Unfortunately, nothing else is known about Francesco. |
