Gaetano Turturici was born on September 24, 1787, and baptized as Caietanus Joannus Laurenzius in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Francesco Turturici and his second wife Anna Guardino. (Mouse over and click on his baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) The Basilica of Maria Santissima del Soccorso is the main church in Sciacca and is called the mother church.
On July 9th, 16th and 22nd of 1815 church banns were read for 27 year-old Gaetano to marry Dominica Maggio. Four days after the last banns were read, they married on July 26, 1815, in the Sciacca St. Vito church. (Mouse over and click on their marriage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) No children could be found for them in the available records for the four Sciacca churches. Almost 4 years later, Domenica died at home and was buried on June 22, 1819. A little over a year later, Gaetano decided to marry again.
On August 29th and September 3rd and 10th of 1820 church banns were read for the 33 year-old widower, Gaetano, to marry the almost 25 year-old widow Antonia de Mino. They were married on September 23, 1820, at the mother church in Sciacca. (See their marriage document in her bio.) Their Latin church marriage record states that Gaetano Turturici was the widower of Domenica Maggio and confirms that he was the son of the late Francesco and Anna Guardino.
Gaetano and Antonia lived in quartiero Madrice, the mother church parish, where all of their five known children were born. (See Antonia's bio for details on the children.) In 1823, his occupation was listed as a sailor; in 1827 he was listed as a Contadino, a farmer; in 1831, he was listed as a Pastore, a shepherd; in 1834 and 1838 he is a farmer, but from 1850 to his death he’s listed as a shepherd. So it seems he quit being a sailor and settled down to do sheep farming when they started a family.
Gaetano’s mother church burial record states he died at home at 70 years-old and was buried in the Santo Francesco cemetery on January 8, 1855, which was a week after his wife died. (Mouse over and click on his Latin church burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) This listed age is just three years off of his actual age of 67. His civil death record also states incorrectly that he was 70 years old, and it lists the wrong surname for his mother. (Mouse over and click on his civil death record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) He may have been living with one of his children at the time of his death, as the civil record states he died he died at his home in quartiero Santo Vito, which is in the St. Vito parish. For now, this is all that is known about Gaetano. |

Antonia di Mino was born and baptized as Antonia Accursia on October 28, 1795, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the daughter of Mariano di Mino and Rosa Marinello. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Her surname has been recorded in different records as Dimino, di Mino, de Mino or just Mino, making it difficult to research.
On December 21st, 26th and 27th of 1817, church banns were read for the 22 year-old Antonia to marry 26 year-old Giuseppe Licata. He was the son of ancestors Michele and Rosa Licata and brother to ancestor Caterina who married Gaetano Friscia. Giuseppe and Antonia were married on January 22, 1818, at the Sciacca mother church. (Mouse over and click on their marriage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Less than 2 years later, Giuseppe died at home and was buried on December 3, 1819. Three months after her husband died, Antonia gave birth to a daughter, Giuseppa, who was named after him. Josepha Catherina was born and baptized on the evening of March 8, 1820. Left with an infant child, Antonia decided to marry again.
Almost 10 months after her husband died, Antonia married the widower Gaetano Turturici on September 28, 1820, at the mother church in Sciacca. (Mouse over and click on their marriage record lower left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) On their Latin church marriage record she is listed as the “Antonia de Mino, widow of Giuseppe Maniscalco, daughter of the late Mariano and Rosa Marinello, both from this Matrice parish.” Note that Giuseppe’s surname is incorrectly listed as Maniscalco on this document.
Gaetano and Antonia had at least five children all born and baptized in the Sciacca mother church parish as follows — Francesco, named after his paternal grandfather, was born on August 28, 1823, was baptized the next day, married Vincenza Marinello on December 31, 1850, and died at the age of 61 on June 18, 1885; Anna Francisca, named after her paternal grandparents, was born and baptized on the evening of December 3, 1827, but died at 19 months-old on July 8, 1829; another Anna was born the morning of on May 4, 1831, baptized that same day with a middle name of Giuseppa, never married and died at 31 years-old on November 21, 1862; ancestor Rosa was named after her maternal grandmother; and a son Mariano who was born on January 15, 1838, was baptized the next day as Marianus Francesco Joseph after his grandfathers, married Barbara Galluzzo on September 17, 1865, and died in Sciacca at the age of 63 on May 13, 1901. It is not known if Antonia’s daughter by her first marriage, Giuseppa, was raised by Gaetano, but she died unmarried at 24 years old on December 22, 1844.
It is documented that Antonia was alive when her son Francesco was married in 1850, and deceased by the time her daughter ancestor Rosa was married on July 24, 1859. Antonina Dimino was living in the quartiero Madrice, in Sciacca when she died in the Hospital of Mercy on December 31, 1854. Her civil death record also states she was a 67 year-old Industrioso, a manufacturer or trader. (Mouse over and click on her civil death record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) This age is incorrect, as she was just 59 years old when she died. Unfortunately, a Sciacca church burial record could not be found for her name so, for now this is all that is known about Antonia. |

Francesco Turturici was born sometime between 1724 and 1730 to parents Vincenza Salerno and her husband Antonino Turturici, probably in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. A Sciacca baptism record could not be found for him.
On December 31, 1747, January 1st and 6th of 1748, church banns were read for Francesco to marry Giovanna Soldano. They married the next day at the mother church in Sciacca on January 7, 1748. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) They had at least eight children all born and baptized at the mother church in Sciacca as follows — Bernardo was born and baptized as Bernardus on March 13, 1752, and married twice in Sciacca; Antonino on March 10, 1754, as Antonius Carolus Joseph; Vito was born on August 26, 1755, baptized the next day as Vitus Antonus, and married Giuseppa Termini on February 26, 1781; another Antonino was born on November 29, 1758, baptized the next day as Anthonius Joachim Andrus, but died at home at 2 years old and was buried on March 23, 1761; Aloisius Antonino was born and baptized on July 9 1762; Michael Joseph was born on the morning of on October 5, 1765, baptized that same day, and married Leonarda Vento on November 13, 1785; Vincenia Clementia was born and baptized on the evening of October 31, 1768; and another Antonino, who was born on May 9, 1772, baptized the next day as Antoninus Joseph Aloius, and in 1794, married Rosa Vitale, the daughter of ancestors Leonardo and Anna Vitale. Giovanna died on December 24, 1776, and was buried at the St. Francisco cemetery. Francesco was left with several young children.
On July 26th, August 2nd and 9th, church banns were read for Francesco to marry 36 year-old widow Anna Guardino. They were married a month later at the mother church in Sciacca on September 9, 1778. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) See her bio for more about her and their children. It is assumed he brought his younger children into this marriage to be raised by Anna.
What is known about Francesco comes from the records of his son, ancestor Gaetano and Gaetano's daughter ancestor Rosa. Francesco was listed as a shepherd on Gaetano’s civil death detail record, but death records are commonly incorrect. (Mouse over and click on Gaetano’s death record in his bio to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) There is also a March 18, 1811, Sciacca Rivelo (tax record) for his name, but nothing identifies him as this Francesco.
In his granddaughter, ancestor Rosa Turturici’s 1859 marriage processetti, there is a death statement for Francesco. (Mouse over and click on his death statement image lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) It states he died in Sciacca at 60 years old, which calculates his birth year to about 1753, which is impossible. He was in good standing with the church, receiving the last rites on October 11, 1813. It is written in Latin and is very brief. It does not mention his cause of death nor his wife or parents. This statement is a copy of his mother church burial record, which also states he was buried in the St. Domenico church cemetery. (Mouse over and click on his Latin church burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) In both records his age is off by at least 20 years, so these records may not be for ancestor Francesco, but it is documented that he was alive on November 17, 1794, when his son Antonino was married and deceased by July 26, 1815, the date his son ancestor Gaetano was married. It just may be that whoever wrote the record, put the incorrect age on it. Unfortunately, at this time nothing more is known about him at this time.

Anna Guardino was born on July 31, 1742, and baptized the next day as Anna Maria Francisca in the mother church parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Calogera Tornetta and her husband Diego Guardino. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) It should be noted that Anna’s surname has been recorded differently on several records. On her son ancestor Gaetano’s 1820 marriage index record and on his 1820 Latin church marriage document pictured in his bio above, she is clearly listed as Anna Guardino. On his civil death index record, which is not as easy to read, she is listed as Anna Finuza. On his civil death detail record, which is written very clearly, she is listed as Anna Ferinna Sanzone. It could be that whoever gave the information at the time, did not know for sure, how her surname was spelled or even what it was.
On November 23rd and 30th and December 4th of 1757, church banns were read for fifteen year-old Anna to marry Calogero Ciulla. (Calogero Ciulla was the grandson of ancestors Angela Tigano and Stefano Ciulla.) The next day on December 5, 1757, Anna was married at the mother church in Sciacca to her first husband. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Anna and Calogero had at least six children all born and baptized at the mother church in Sciacca as follows — Ignazio, named after his paternal grandfather was born and baptized as Ignacius Aloylis Martinus on November 11, 1759; Accursia Maria Lucia on December 13, 1762; Stefano was born on December 30, 1765, baptized the next day as Stephanus Silvyesto and married Calogera Vitale; Calogera Philippa was born on the morning of May 1, 1769, and baptized that same day; Saverio was born and baptized as Xaverius Ignatius Didacus on July 27, 1774; and Diego, named after his maternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Didacus Joseph Accursus on February 1, 1777, married Calogera Giambruno on November 18, 1799, and died there on January 12, 1857.
Anna’s first husband Calogero died and was buried on May 3, 1777, leaving her with several young children. A year later on September 9, 1778, thirty-six-year-old Anna married Francesco Turturici, who was also widowed. It is assumed she brought her children by her first husband, the youngest being under 2 years of age, into this marriage with ancestor Francesco.
Francesco and Anna had at least three children together, all born in Sciacca and baptized at the mother church as follows — Antonia Josepha Maria was born on January 22, 1780, and baptized the next day; Gaetano was born on October 25, 1782, and baptized the next day as Gaetanus Joseph Michael, who probably died young, but a death record could not be found for him; and ancestor Gaetano.
It is not known when Anna died, but it is documented that she was alive when her son Diego was married on November 18, 1799, and was deceased on July 26, 1815, the date her son ancestor Gaetano was married for the first time. A burial record for her could not be found, so for now, this is all that is known about her. |

Mariano Dimino or di Mino ancestry is unknown, but he was probably born sometime between 1775 and 1778, possibly in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. On October 5th, 12th and 19th of 1794, church banns were read for Mariano to marry 26 year-old Rosa Marinello. They married at the mother church in Sciacca on November 16, 1794. On this Latin marriage document his parents are listed as unknown, or to be more exact, it says filio populi which translates to son of the people, which seems to mean he was abandoned at birth. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) What is known of him comes from his children’s records, which is how his birth year range was calculated. Their children’s marriage records tells us that the family lived in Quartiero Madrice (the mother church parish) and Mariano’s occupation changed over the years. From 1829 to 1832, he was listed as a sailor. In 1854 he was listed as an Industrios, a manufacturer or trader. In 1857 he was listed as a Vasaio, a Potter. So it seems he started out as a sailor, then in his older years, began working with pottery and selling his work.
Mariano di Mino was widowed at an early age with young children. It is very possible that he remarried as he lived much longer than his wife Rosa. Unfortunately, Sciacca records have not been found to confirm this theory. He was alive in 1832, as he is listed as 56 years-old, when his daughter Francesca was married, and he was deceased by the end of 1854, when his daughter, ancestor Antonia died. Unfortunately, a Sciacca death or burial record for him hasn’t been found. |

R osa Marinello was born on the evening of December 30, 1767, and immediately baptized in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, as Rosa Vincenza after her paternal grandmother, the daughter of Francesca Guadagnino and her husband Calogero Marinello. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Rosa married Mariano di Mino on November 16, 1794, at the mother church in Sciacca. This Latin record states her parents names, but not her age. (See the image in her husband's bio above.)
Mariano and Rosa had at least four other children younger than ancestor Antonia, all born and baptized at the mother church in Sciacca — a son Vito was born and baptized as Vitus on December 17, 1798, and married Anna D'Alba on November 22, 1829; Francesca was born on June 12, 1802, baptized as Francesca Antonina Josepha the next day after her maternal grandmother, married first Guiseppe di Vita, and after Guiseppe died, she married Giovanni Friscia on August 15, 1832, and then at age 52 she was married again on August 21, 1858, to Giuseppe di Mino; Calogero was born and baptized as Calogero Accursio Melchior on the evening of March 9, 1806; and lastly a daughter Giuseppa who was born on November 17, 1807, baptized the next day as Josepha Calogera, married Francesco di Vita on August 15, 1830, and died on May 5, 1857, at the Hospital of Mercy. On Giuseppa's civil death record, her father and spouse’s names are correct, but her mother is listed as Rosa Guadagnino. This surname was her maternal grandmother's surname. It is simply just another civil death record error proving that whoever gave the info knew the family line, but confused the surnames.
In her daughter Francesca’s third marriage processetti, Rosa Marinello's death date is documented in Sciacca, on November 30, 1816 (mouse over and click on her death statement left to enlarge it in a new window/tab). She is listed as “Rosa di Mino wife of Mariano aged 45.” It also states she was “buried in the church of San Francesco.” This may be the the former San Francesco d’Paola church in Sciacca. This statement is a copy of her mother church burial record. (Mouse over and click on her Latin church burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) For now, this is all that is known about her.

Antonino Turturici was born and baptized at home on the evening of December 12, 1699, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Cecilie Perricone and her husband Vito Turturici. (Mouse over and click on his baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)
On January 6th, 11th and 28th of 1722, church banns were read for Antonino to marry Vincenza Salerno. On several records, her surname is sometimes listed as or with an alias of Calafato. A Sciacca baptism record could not be found for her under either name. She was the daughter of Anna Vineziano and her husband Francisco Salerno. Antonino and Vincenza married at the mother church in Sciacca on February 1, 1722. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)
Only two mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Antonino and Vincenza Turturici as follows — Cecilia Rosa was born and baptized on the morning of March 23, 1723, named after her paternal grandmother; and Saverio Vito, who was born on February 24, 1727, and baptized the next day as Xaverius Vitus. They probably had several other children, but records have not been found for them yet. It should be noted that both St. Vito’s and St. Michele’s baptism records for this time period are not available for research.
Vincenza died and was buried in the mother church cemetery on March 14, 1742. (Mouse over and click on her Latin church burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Her mother church burial record states she was the 45 year old wife of Antonini Turturici. This brings her death to about 1697.A little more than a month later, church banns were read on April 29th and May 1st for Antonino to marry Caterina Galizi. They married on June 3, 1742, at the Sciacca mother church. No Sciacca baptism records have been found for the children of Antonino and Caterina Turturici.
It is not known exactly when Antonino died. He was still alive on January 7, 1748, the date his son ancestor Francesco married his first wife, but deceased by the time ancestor Francesco was married for the second time on September 9, 1778. So Antonino died sometime within that 30 year span. There is however, a mother church burial record for a man with his name dated July 3, 1770, that could be him. (Mouse over and click on his possible Latin church burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) This record states he was sixty years old and buried in the St. Francisco cemetery, but there is no other identifying information to prove that this is him. Ancestor Antonino would have been 70 years old, but death records ages are commonly incorrect. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about them.

Diego Guardino was born and baptized as Didacus Vincenius Aurelius on July 24, 1718, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Anna Assenso and her husband Damiano Guardino. (Mouse over and click on his baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)
On October 8th, 15th and 22nd of 1741, banns were read in church for Diego to marry Calogera Tornetta. She was born in Sciacca on March 24, 1723, and baptized in the mother church parish there, the next day as Calogera Nuntia Vincentia, the daughter of Anna Piparo and her husband Francesco Tornetta. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record upper left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Diego and Calogera were married a week after the last banns were read, at the mother church in Sciacca on November 5, 1741. (Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage document image middle right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)
Eight mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Didaco and Calogera Guardino as follows — ancestor Anna; Damiano, named after his paternal grandfather, was born on September 25, 1744, baptized the next day as Cosmius Damianius Francisus, and as Damiano married Anna Gerardi on November 13, 1769; Francesco was born on December 1, 1746, baptized as Franciscus Xaverius the next day, and married Francisca Fauci on November 12, 1772; Vincenzo Antonio was born and baptized on the evening of October 16, 1749, was a sailor who married Rosa Daina on September 3, 1774, and died at 70 years old at home in Sciacca on September 22, 1826; Andrea was born and baptized as Andreus Joseph Vincentius on November 20, 1751, was also a sailor, married Catharina Fauci on December 21, 1773, and died in Palermo, Sicilia on April 27, 1821, at 70 years old; Antonino was born on the morning of July 18, 1753, baptized as Antonius Joannes Bapista that same day, but six days later he died at home and was buried on July 24th; Francesco was born on August 21, 1754, baptized the next day as Francescus Paulus Antonius, and shortly after his 1st birthday he died at home and was buried on August 28, 1755; and Saverio, who was born and baptized as Xaverius Ignarius Aloysius on March 27, 1757.
It is documented that Diego and Calogera were alive when their son Andrea was married in 1773. It is also documented that Calogera was deceased and Diego was still alive when their son Vincenzo was married in 1774. Calogera died and was buried in the cemetery of the Convent of the Third Order of Saint Francisci outside the city on June 28, 1774. (Mouse over and click on her Latin church burial record middle left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Her mother church burial record lists her as, Calogera wife of Didaci Guardino about 50 years old, which is close to her actual age of 51.
Because it is documented that Diego was alive when his daughter, ancestor Anna was married on September 9, 1778, there is a good possibility that one of the following burial records is for him. Unfortunately, these burial records do not have any other identifying information, but one of them is probably for him. Diego lived at least another six more years and did not remarry. The earlier burial record states he died at home and was buried in the Convent Church of St. Francisci outside the city on December 7, 1780. (Mouse over and click on his possible Latin church burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) This mother church burial record lists him simply as, Didacus Guardino, about 66 years old, but ancestor Diego would have been 62 at this time. The second burial record is dated March 17, 1782, and states that Didacius Guardino about 60 years old died at home and was buried in Church Convent of Cappuccinorum cemetery. (Mouse over and click on his second possible Latin church burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Ancestor Diego would have been been 63 years old at this time. So either of these burial records could be for him. For now, this is all that is known about them.

Calogero Marinello was born on November 5, 1744, and baptized as Calogero Joseph Maria that same day in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Giuseppe Marinello and his wife Rosa Migliore. (Mouse over and click on his baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) He is listed as 3 years old on his fathers 1747 Sciacca Rivelo (tax record), which can been viewed in his father's bio below.
On December 14th, 21st and 16th of 1766, church banns were read for 22 year-old Calogero to marry 24 year-old Francesca Guadagnino. She was born on April 6, 1742, and baptized the same day also in the mother church parish of Sciacca as Francesca Paula, the daughter of Giuseppe Guadagnino and Giuseppa Aversa. (Mouse over and click on her baptism record middle right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Calogero and Francesca were married on January 7, 1767, at the mother church in Sciacca. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)
Five Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Calogero and Francesca Marinello as follows— ancestor Rosa was named after her paternal grandmother; Giuseppe, who was born and baptized on the evening of February 8, 1771, as Joseph after both of his grandfathers, married Rosa Bono in 1819; Accursio, who was born and baptized on the evening of September 18, 1776, as Accursius Joseph; Maria was born and baptized as Maria Ignatia on September 8, 1778, married Giuseppe Bentivegna in 1806; and Anna Maria who was born and baptized on the evening of December 30, 1782. Civil death records have been found for two of these children. Giuseppe is listed as a married sailor who died at home, at the age of 58 on January 25, 1832, which is off by two years, as he was 60 when he died; and Maria is listed as the widow of Giuseppe Bentivegna, was a laborer, and died at 75 years old, in her house on January 10, 1858, which is off by four years, as she was 79 when she died.
It is documented that Calogero and Francesca were alive when their daughter Maria was married on February 17, 1806, and deceased by the time their son Giuseppe was married on December 4, 1819. Francesca died and was buried in the convent of St Francisco cemetery on January 26, 1815. (Mouse over and click on her Latin church burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Her mother church burial record is in her maiden name and is very hard to read. Her age is listed as 75, but she was actually only 72 years old when she died. A burial record for Calogero has not been found yet. At this time, nothing else is known about Calogero and Francesca. |

Francisco Salerno and his wife Anna Vineziano’s ancestries are unknown, but they are the documented parents of ancestor Vincenza. They lived, at least for a short time, in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy. A Sciacca marriage contract or church record has not been found for them, so they may have come from another town. Other male Salerno marriages state that they are from what looks like Libbeno de Moncada. This may be a reference to Moncada in Spain, but this is just speculation.
No Sciacca children’s baptisms or marriage records, other than their daughter ancestor Vincenza’s marriage record, can be found for Francisco and Anna Salerno. What has been found are burial records and Francisco’s second marriage record.
It is documented that Anna was deceased and Francisco was alive on February 1, 1722, when their daughter ancestor Vincenza was married. A Sciacca mother church burial record dated March 6, 1708, has been found and is probably for Anna, but there are problems with this record. Neither the index or register record make much sense, but they are both hard to read. On both of them the given name seems to be Maria, but there are other words that are unreadable and may include the alias of Calofaso. (Mouse over and click on the Latin church burial record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) The register lists her as Maria wife of Fran’ci Salerno . . . 50 years old . . . was buried in the Matrix church, which is the mother church cemetery. If her age is correct, her birth she would have been about 1658, and she would have been somewhat older than Francisco, but burial ages are often just an estimate.
The Sciacca mother church marriage record found is for Fran’cius Salerno widow and relict of Anna Vineziano and Vincenza Gesino daughter of deceased Gaspare and Leonarda Gesino who are also ancestors. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Francisco’s second wife was baptized as Calogera Vincenzia and she was 37 years old when they married. Their marriage record states that church banns were read on April 15th, 22nd and 29th of 1708, and the actual marriage took place on May 6, 1708, just two months after Anna’s probable death. The timing of their marriage supports that the above mentioned burial record in the name of Maria, is actually for Anna, even though the listed name is incorrect.
Only one Sciacca baptism record has been found for Master Fran'co and Vincenzia Salerno. A daughter, Anna Maria Leonarda, given a second middle name after her maternal grandmother, was born on the evening of January 9, 1709, and baptized the next day in the mother church parish. Her mother was thirty-eight years old when she was born, so this may be the reason no other children were born to them.
Francisco lived many more years. He died at home and was buried in the mother church cemetery on February 2, 1739. (Mouse over and click on his Latin church burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as Master Franciscus Salerno alias Calofaso, 70 years old, which puts his birth to about 1669, but again, burial ages can’t be trusted.
Although some of the information here is somewhat confusing and not clearly documented, and some of this is speculation, for now, this is all that can be found for them. |

Damiano Guardino was born and baptized as Damianus Antonius Joachim on May 27, 1697, in the mother church parish in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Caterina Cusumano and her husband Didaci Guardino. (Mouse over and click on his baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)
On October 28th, 31st and November 1st of 1717, church banns were read for Damiano to marry Anna Assenso. She was born and baptized as Anna Maria Leonarda Rosa on the evening of August 30, 1695, also in the mother church parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Flavia Vitrano and her husband Vincenzo Assenso. (Mouse over and click on her baptism record middle right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Twenty year-old Damiano and 22 year-old Anna were married in Sciacca at the mother church on November 13, 1717. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)
Only three mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Damiano and Anna Guardino as follows — ancestor Diego, their eldest son was named after his paternal grandfather; Leonardo was born on March 10, 1720, baptized the next day as Leonardius Ignazius, and married Vita Aucello on January 27, 1743; and Vincenzo, who was named after his maternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Vincentius Domcius on the morning of April 15, 1722, but died 4 months later and was buried on August 23, 1722.
Sadly, eight months after her last child was born, Anna died and was buried in the cemetery at the Convent of St. Francisci Minor’s Observantiae on December 4, 1722. (Mouse over and click on her Latin church burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Her mother church burial record states her correct age of 27 years old, and lists her as the wife of Damiano Guardino.
Seven years later on December 18, 1729, Damiano married Carmina Cinirella at the Sciacca mother church. His mother’s name is listed as Caterina Tigano, which is the alias mentioned on her death record. Oddly, it does not say he was a widower or mention Anna’s name. On some records Carmina is called Carmela.
Eight mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Damiano and Carmina Guradino as follows — Vincenzo was born on October 25, 1730, baptized the next day as Vincenzius Domenicius Crispinius, but 10 months later he died at home and was buried on August 29, 1731; Domenico, named after his maternal grandfather, was born on June 10, 1732, baptized as Dominicus Andreas the next day, died at home unmarried at 26 years old and was buried on December 4, 1758; Caterina Anna, named after her paternal grandmother, was born on June 9, 1735, and baptized the next day, but died at 6 months old and was buried on January 8, 1736; Savaria, was born and baptized as Catharina Xaveria on the evening of December 3, 1736, but died at home shortly after her ninth birthday and was buried on January 9, 1746; Antonino was born and baptized as Antonius Vincentius Franciscus on the evening of October 12, 1738, but probably died young; another Antonino was born on the morning of October 23, 1741, and was baptized as Antoninus Joseph Laurencius that same day; Pasquale was born and baptized as Paschalis Blasius Joseph on February 3, 1743, but died at 6 months old and was buried on August 27th; and Andria was born on June 26, 1747, baptized the next day as Andrelius Franciscus, but died at home a month after his 4th birthday and was buried on July 25, 1751.
There is also an undated 1747 Rivelo (tax record) for this family. (Mouse over and click on their Rivelo record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) It lists Damiano’s age as 48 years old, which puts his birth to about 1699, which is only 2 years off of his actual age. His wife’s name is listed as Carmela, followed by their three children — 15 year-old Domenico, which was his correct age; seven year-old Antonino, which was about his actual age; and Andria, who is listed as 2 years old, but he would have been an infant, possibly a few months old. Listed last is Leonarda Guardino, who is noted as his sister, but she could be a sister-in-law. Because this is an undated document and these Riveli were recorded in 1747 and 1748, the ages listed could be off a bit.
It is not known when Damiano died, but it was after his last child was baptized on June 27, 1747. Both Damiano and Carmina are not listed as deceased on their son Dominico’s burial record, so they both may have been alive on December 4, 1758. It is uncertain, as the priest may have just written their names without noting if they were alive or deceased. A burial record could not be found for either of them in the available Sciacca records. Unfortunately, this is all that is known about them. |

Francesco Tornetta was probably born in 1696, in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Calogera Rizzuto and her husband Antonino Tornetta. Although there are St. Vito baptism records for his siblings, none can be found for his name with these parents. There is however two St. Vito baptism records that could be for him. The first and most likely is for June 17, 1696, to parents Antonino and Calogera Termine. An error could have been made in writing down the surname. The second is dated October 18, 1696, to parents Augostino and Vincenza Tirnetta. It is less likely an error was made on both given names. It is also possible that neither of these records are for him. But these are the only Sciacca records that could be for Francesco. This researcher believes the June 17th record is for ancestor Francesco, so it is displayed here. (Mouse over and click on the Latin church baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)
In 1721, on September 29th and October 5th and 10th, church banns were read for Francesco to marry Anna Piparo. She was born on July 8, 1703, and baptized the next day as Anna Francesca, in St. Michele’s church parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Rosa Migliorino and her husband Calogero Piparo. (Mouse over and click on her Latin church baptism record middle right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Twenty-five year-old Francesco and 18 year-old Anna were married at the mother church in Sciacca on October 28, 1721.(Mouse over and click on their Latin church marriage record left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)
Six Sciacca mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Francesco and Anna Tornetta as follows — ancestor Calogera, named after her paternal grandmother; Rosa Maria, named after her maternal grandmother was born on April 22, 1725, baptized the next day, but 3 months later, she died at home and was buried on July 29, 1725; Antonino was born and baptized as Antoninus Joseph Ignatius on the evening of September 18, 1726, and married Vincenzia Bruno on January 12, 1749; Rosa Vincenzia was born and baptized on April 17, 1735 but probably died young; Baltassare was born on November 23, 1736, and was baptized as Baltassar Joseph the next day; and another Rosa, who was born on March 31, 1739, and was baptized as Rosa Margarita the next day. They may have had other children born in another parish, but those records are not available for research.
It is not known for certain when Francesco and Anna died, but they were alive on November 5, 1741, when their daughter ancestor Calogera was married. They are also not listed as deceased on their son Antonino’s 1749 marriage record, but this could be the priest not putting that information on the document. The following burial record is probably for ancestor Francesco. It states Francesco Tornetta died at home and was buried in the S. Michael the Archangel (St. Michele) churchyard on August 27, 1750. (Mouse over and click on his Latin church burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) His mother church burial record states he was 53 years old, which is only one year off of his actual age of 54. There isn’t any other identifying information to confirm that this is ancestor Francesco, but this record is the best possibility and is probably for this ancestor. A burial record for Anna has not yet been found. For now, this is all that is known about them.

Giuseppe Marinello was born on March 13, 1692, and baptized that same day as Joseph Calogerus in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Paola Infantino and her husband Stefano Marinello. (Mouse over and click on his baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) He was the second Giuseppe born to his parents and was most likely named after his paternal grandfather, making him the eldest surviving son. He is also the brother of ancestor Ignazio Marinello.
On June 9th, 10th and 11th church banns were read for Giuseppe to marry Rosa Migliore. She was born on the evening of September 30, 1697, and baptized as Rosalia Arcangela that same night also in the mother church parish of Sciacca. Rosa was named after her paternal grandmother, being the first born daughter of Celidonia Leo and her husband Baldassare Migliore. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record upper middle right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Nine days after the last church banns were read, Giuseppe and Rosa were married at the mother church in Sciacca on June 20, 1715, and they raised a family there. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) On this marriage document Giuseppe is listed as Giuseppe Imburli alias Marinello, which is confusing, as he raised his children with the surname Marinello.
Fourteen mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Joseph and Rosa Marinello as follows — Maria Paula was born on the morning of August 21, 1717, and baptized the next day; Anna Bartolomea was born on the morning of on August 24, 1719, and baptized that same day; Stefano was born and baptized on October 7, 1722, as Stephaney Bartolomeus Aurelius, and married Grazia Vela on September 18, 1746; Calogera Paula Cosma was born and baptized on September 26, 1725; Baldassar Nuntius Matteus, named after his maternal grandfather, was born on March 24, 1727, baptized the next day, but died 2 months later at home and was buried on June 8, 1727; Vincenzo Calogero Baldassar was born and baptized on April 14, 1728, and in 1752 married Barbara the daughter of ancestors Giuseppa Aversa and Giuseppe Guadagnino; Gaspare Calogero was born on the morning of April 25, 1731, baptized that same day, but died 9 days later at home and was buried on May 4th; Paula Maria was born on May 4, 1733, baptized the next day, but died at four months old and was buried on September 29th; Francesca Maria was born on July 13, 1734, baptized the next day, and died at home just before her 4th month of life and was buried on November 10, 1734; Franciscus Stephanus Bartolomeus was born on the morning of February 28, 1737, and married Vincenza Sabella in 1765; Paula was born on November 4, 1739, and baptized the next day; Celidonia Laurentia, named after her maternal grandmother, was born on August 10, 1741, and baptized the next day; Antonina Custazia was born on the evening of September 19, 1742, baptized the next day, but died at 6 months old and was buried on March 29, 1743; and their last child was ancestor Calogero.
There is a Sciacca 1747 Rivelo (tax record) for them. (Mouse over and click on their Rivel record middle left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Giuseppe is listed as 53 years old and head of the revealing house. Rosa is listed next as his wife, no age given, and then the children. Only four children are listed as follows — 16 year-old Vincenzo; 9 year-old Francesco; ancestor Calogero, who is listed as 3 years old; and a daughter named Paula, no age given, who apparently was named after Giuseppe’s mother. The other nine children were probably married and out of the house, or died young. His father is listed as the deceased Giuseppe, not Stefano, but this could have been just an error made by the recorder. His mother is listed as the deceased Paula Marinello.
It is documented that Giuseppe and Rosa were alive on February 5, 1752, when their son Vincenzo was married. It is also documented that Giuseppe was still alive, but Rosa was deceased when their son Francisco was married on July 22, 1765. Rosa died at home and was buried in the convent church of St. Maria Monte Carmelo cemetery on January 23, 1765. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record lower middle right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Her mother church burial record lists her as, Rosa wife of Joseph Marinello 60 years old, but she was 67 years old when she died. Four months later Giuseppe decided to remarry.
On May 19th, 16th and 27th of 1765 church banns were read for the now 73 year-old Giuseppe to marry the widow Vincenza Barone. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record lower left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) They married in the mother church on May 28, 1765, the day after the last banns were read. The marriage didn’t last long, as less than a year later, Giuseppe died. He was buried in the Convent Church of St. Carmeli cemetery on April 27, 1766. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as, Joseph Marinello, 80 years old, but he was actually 74 when he died.
For now, this is all that is known about them. |

Giuseppe Guadagnino was baptized as Joseph Antoniunus Stephanus on April 1, 1703, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the son of Barbara Costanza and her husband Crispino Guadagnino. (Mouse over and click on his baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Sometime prior to or in 1724, Giuseppe married Giuseppa Aversa, but a church marriage record could not be found for them. She was born on the morning of May 16, 1692, and baptized that same day as Josepha Anna Rosa also in the mother church parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Margarita Tigano and her husband Francesco Aversa. (Mouse over and click on her baptism record upper left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)
Nine mother church baptism records have been found for the children of as Josepho and Josepha Guadagnino. On some he is listed as master, meaning he was well respected in his field. Their nine children are as follows —Barbara Antonia, named after her paternal grandmother, was born on July 14, 1725, and baptized the next day, but died and was buried at 4 months old on November 29, 1725; Crispino, named after his paternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Chrispinus Igmazius Marianus on December 8, 1726, and married Rosa Dolcimascolo in 1758; Barbara Maria Antonia was born and baptized on the evening of August 13, 1729, and married the son of ancestors Rosa Migliore and Giuseppe Marinello, Vincenzo, whose brother ancestor Calogero married Barbara’s sister ancestor Francesca; Antonia Rosaria was born on October 6, 1731, baptized the next day, and married Salvatore Maniscalco, the grandson of ancestors Luciana Trapani and Lorenzo Maniscalco; Ignazio, born on February 2, 1734, was baptized as Ignazio Blasio Vincenzio the next day and married Anna Vita on May 1, 1758, the same day his sister Vincenza married Anna’s brother; Francesco, named after his maternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Francescus Felix Maria on May 17, 1737; Vincenza Antonina was born and baptized on June 11, 1739, and married Alberto Vita, on the same day that his sister Anna married Vincena’s brother Ignazio; ancestor Francesca; and Mario, who was born and baptized as Marianus Joseph on the evening of March 25, 1747.
There is an undated 1747 Rivelo (tax record) for this family that was probably recorded in May of 1748, which was not uncommon. (Mouse over and click on his Rivelo record middle right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) On it Giuseppe is listed as being 45 years old, the son of the deceased Crispino and Barbara Guadagnino. Then his seven children are listed as follows — 21 year-old Crispino; Barbara; Antonia; 14 year-old Ignazio; Vincenza; Francesca who is the ancestor; and 2 year-old Mario. His wife is not listed, as she was deceased by this time.
Giuseppa died and was buried in the cemetery at the Convent of St. Francisco outside the city on April 5, 1748. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Her mother church burial record lists her as Josepha wife of Master Josephi Guadagnino, about 47 years old . . . died in her home. She was actually 55 years old when she died. It is not known if Giuseppe married again, as only the mother church marriage records are available for research for this time period and he is not in them. More than 13 years later Giuseppe died outside of the city walls and was buried on August 26, 1760, in the St. Michaeli the Archangeli cemetery, which is the St. Michele church cemetery. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) His mother church burial record lists him as Joseph Guadagnino age about 60, but the 0 in 60 looks like a dot. If this was for a 6 year-old child, a parent’s name would have been listed. It seems to be just a handwriting error by the recorder. This is all that is known about Giuseppe and Giuseppa.

Didaci Guardino was born on February 19, 1649, in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, and baptized that same day in the mother church parish there as Didacus Honuphurius Francesco, the son of Giovanna Caradonna and her husband Antonino Guardino. (Mouse over and click on his baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) He is the brother to ancestor Domenico Guardino and Giuseppe Guardino, who married ancestor Caterina Spanò as her second husband. Didaci’s name translates in Italian to Diego, but he is not called that on any of the records found for him.
In May of 1676, on the 24th, 25th and 26th, church banns were read for Didaci to marry Dorothea La Rocca. They married on June 7, 1676, at St Michele’s church. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Six mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Didaci and Dorothea Guardino as follows — Antonino, being the eldest son was named after his paternal grandfather, was born and baptized as Antonino Cosmos Jacobius on July 25, 1678; twins Michael Ignatius and Anna Angela were born and baptized on June 3, 1684; Giuseppe was born on February 17, 1686, and baptized the next day as Joseph Dominicus Damianus; Giovanni was born on August 18, 1687, and baptized the next day as Joannes Laurantius Calogerius; and Anna Caterina was born and baptized on May 30, 1690. Five months after their last child was born, Dorothea died on October 22, 1690, leaving Didaci with young children.
Eight months later, church banns were read on June 29th, July 1st and 8th of 1691, for Didaci to marry Caterina Cusumano, the widow of Vito Bonanno. Caterina was born on the evening of November 8, 1654, and baptized the next day as Catherina Margarita, in the mother church parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Grazia Tigano and her husband Giacomo Cusumano. (Mouse over and click on her baptism record middle left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Caterina married Vito on December 1, 1674, in the St. Michele church and they had at least 5 children. Five Sciacca baptism records, in three different church parish records, have been found for the children of Vito and Catherina Bonanno as follows — Margarita, named after her paternal grandmother, was born on the morning of September 26, 1675, baptized as Anna Margarita that same day in the St. Vito parish, and as Margarita married the widow Domenico Blasco on January 12, 1698; Vincenzo, named after his paternal grandfather was born and baptized as Stefanus Vincenzius Antonius, on the evening of June 7, 1678, in the St. Michele parish, and as Vincenzo married Filippa Maniscalco, the daughter of ancestors Lorenzo and Luciana Maniscalco; Francisco was born on August 1, 1681, and baptized as Francis’co Ignazius Antonius the next day in the mother church parish; Onofrio was born and baptized as Honufrius Calogero Jacobius on the evening of July 23, 1682, also in the mother church parish, and married Accursia Sanfilippo on October 27, 1709; and Anna Leonarda who was born on the morning of November 9, 1685, and baptized the next day in the St. Michele parish. Vito died sometime after his last child was born, but a burial record could not be found for him because burial records are missing for this time period until September of 1690. Left with young children, Caterina decided to remarry.
The now 42 year-old Didaci and 36 year-old Caterina married at the mother church in Sciacca on July 10, 1691. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record middle right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Only three mother church baptism records have been found for their children as follows — Dominico was born on the evening of March 29, 1692, and baptized as Domincus Jachium Philippus that same night; Giovanna, named after her paternal grandmother, was born on December 29, 1694, baptized the next day as Joanna Anna, and in 1713, married Pasquale, the son of ancestors Lorenzo and Luciana Maniscalco; and ancestor Damiano.
It is documented that Didaci and Caterina were deceased when there daughter Giovanna was married on February 26, 1713. Didaci died and was buried in the cemetery of the Church Convent of St Francesco outside the city on July 6, 1698. His mother church burial record states Didacus was 44 years old, but he was actually 49 years old. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)
Caterina died almost ten years later and was buried in the same cemetery as her husband, the Church Convent of St. Francisci outside the city on February 28, 1708. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Her mother church burial record is in her maiden surname of Cusumano, but with an alias of Tigano. She is listed as the 54 year-old last wife of Didaci Guardino, but she was only 53 when she died. For now, this is all that is known about them. |
| ~< Back to Chart >~ |
Stefano Marinello was born and baptized as Leonardus Gaetanus Stephanus in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy on November 5, 1663, the son of Francesca Picovino and her husband Giuseppe Marinello. (Mouse over and click on his baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) His parents had three sons with the given name of Leonardus. Stefano was the first, the second one was born 8 years later, but no death record exists for the first Leonardus. The second one died as an infant and they named their next son Leonardus. So it makes sense that even though he was baptized with this name, he was called Stefano from a young age.
On April 16th, 22nd, and 28th of 1686, banns were read in church for Stefano to marry Paola Infantino. She was born on January 25, 1665, and baptized as Paula Catharina, that same day in the mother church parish of Sciacca. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism image lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Paola was the daughter of Grazia Spano and her husband Antonino Infantino, who are listed as alias Tilla on this marriage document. Paola was also the sister to ancestor Anna Marie who married Domeninco Soldano. Stefano and Paola were married at the mother church in Sciacca on May 1, 1686. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record upper left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) They were the parents of two ancestors, Giuseppe and Ignazio.
There are 11 mother church baptism records for the children of Stephano and Paula Marinello, as follows — Francesca Anna Xauena, the eldest daughter named after her paternal grandmother was born and baptized on the evening of October 31, 1686; Giuseppe, the eldest son, named after his paternal grandfather, was born on November 12, 1687, baptized the next day as Joseph Onofrius Gaspare, and probably died young; Francisca Nunzia Gratia was born and baptized on the evening of March 25, 1689; ancestor Giuseppe; Ignazio was born on July 9, 1695, baptized the next day as Ignatius Xaunius Michael Bartholomeus, and probably died young; Giovanni was born on March 13, 1698, and baptized as Joannes Petrus Antonino the next day; Anna Maria Vita Mathea was born and baptized on the evening of August 21, 1699, and may have died as an infant; another Anna Maria was born on February 4, 1701, and baptized the next day as Anna Maria Margarita, but died at 4 years old on December 12, 1705; Grazia, named after her maternal grandmother was baptized as Gratia Joanna Margarita was baptized on February 11, 1704, but died at 4 months old on June 12th; ancestor Ignazio; and Anna Maria Launentia, who was born late in the evening of April 12, 1709, was baptized the next day, and married twice in Sciacca-first Michaeli Agello and then in 1731, Leonardo Milito.
There is a Sciacca 1714 Rivelo (tax record) for this family dated July 13, 1714. (Mouse over and click on their Rivelo record middle right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Stefano’s father Giuseppe is listed as deceased, but his mother’s name is not listed. Stefano is listed as 47 years old which calculates his birth to about 1667. Then his wife is listed as Paola Marinello. Then the children are listed as follows — ancestor Giuseppe is listed as 20 years old; 7 year-old ancestor Ignazio Marinello; and lastly a daughter, Maria Marinello, who is probably the last born Anna Maria listed above. Why the younger children are listed with their surname, but ancestor Giuseppe is not, is a mystery! There doesn’t seem to be much written on this document, so it would seem they didn’t own much.
It is documented that Stefano was alive, but Paola was deceased when their daughter Maria was married on November 20, 1731. Paola died at home and was buried on November 22, 1729, in the St. Francesco cemetery outside the city. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Her burial record lists her as Paula wife of Stephani Marinello, 66 years old, but she was only 64 when she died. Burial record ages are usually just an estimate. Stefano died four years later and was buried in the mother church cemetery on April 2, 1734. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) There is no way to be certain that this is his death record, as there is nothing more than his name and age of 70 years to identify him. Being listed as 70 years old calculates his birth to about 1664, which is only one year off from his baptism record. At this time, this is all that is known about them.

Baldassare Migliore was born in the evening of October 18, 1664, and baptized in the mother church parish of Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy, the next day as Baldassar Paulus, after his paternal grandfather. (Mouse over and click on his baptism record upper right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) He was the eldest son of Gaspare Migliore and his first wife Rosalia Ficara. He had just turned 4 years old when his mother died and six when his father remarried, giving him a half sister- ancestor Maria Miglore.
On May 6th, 13th, and 20th of 1696, church banns were read for Baldassare to marry Celidonia Leo. She was born on May 22, 1680, and baptized the next day as Celidonia Maria Madalena Vincenzia in the St. Michele’s church parish of Sciacca, the daughter of Giuseppe Leo and his wife Santa Attardo. (Mouse over and click on her Latin baptism record middle right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) She is also the sister to Elisabetta Leo who married Ambrogio Costanza. Thirty-one year-old Baldassare and 16 year-old Celidonia were married at the mother church in Sciacca on June 17, 1696. (Mouse over and click on their Latin mariage record left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.)
Eight mother church baptism records have been found for the children of Baldassare and Celidonia Migliore, as follows — ancestor Rosa; Ignatia Francesca Santa on January 22, 1699, who probably died young; Gaspare Ignatius Girlandus on February 25, 1700, who probably died young; Philippa Rosa Ignatia was born on August 12, 1701, and baptized the next day; Ignatia Barbara Adriana on November 30, 1704; Antonina Vincenza was born on June 13, 1706, and baptized the next day; Gaspare Joseph Calogero was born on September 17, 1707, and baptized the next day; and son Melchior Joseph was born on February 13, 1711, and baptized the next day.
Ten months after their last child was born, Baldassare died and was buried on December 30, 1711, in what looks like the Monte Carmelo cemetery. (Mouse over and click on his Latin burial record lower left to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) His mother church burial record is difficult to read, but he is listed as being 44 years old, when in reality he was 47. Celidonia was left with eight children, the oldest being only 14 years old. Six months after her husband died, on June 13, 1712, 32 year-old Celidonia married Michele Perraturi at the mother church in Sciacca. Celidonia and Michele had at least one son, Giovanni Antonino, who was born on August 11, 1713, and baptized at the mother church the next day as Joannes Antonius. Celidonia Perraturi died and was buried on June 1, 1759. (Mouse over and click on her Latin burial record lower right to enlarge it in a new window/tab.) Her mother church burial record lists her as 90 years old, when she was actually almost 80 years old. For now, nothing else is known about them. |
